Credence has had a troubled childhood, and as a result of the abuse he suffers at the hand of his adoptive mother, he comes to crave affection from others. Any kind of affection. Aurelia knew him long ago. She was the only one to show any care for t...

Eartha had tried to comfort Aurelia but it seemed like nothing would work. She looked at her like the fire in her eyes had been dowsed with ice water, if anything it made the blue more pale. Eartha wasn't used to it, and niether was anyone else. It unnerved them. It was like she had just crawled back inside some invisible shell and no matter how hard anyone tried she was simply unreachable.
Aurelia moved her eyes more slowly, like they were heavy, an effort to move. All those late nights certainly didn't help. She was trying to find a lead on where Grindelwald could have taken Credence... Even if it ended up dangerous, she was at least going to try and contact him.
She was about ready to admit defeat after a rather long day at work. She had been using every bit of power that her job provided, which wasn't much, to look for recent attacks and locations but none fit the description. She had even begged Queenie to concentrate on anyone's thoughts just to make sure the Ministry had no leads. They didn't. At least not from what they could tell.
Aurelia tossed her keys onto a nearby table and pushed her door shut with a loud, exhausted sigh. The whole apartment was engulfed by darkness, robbing Aurelia of all her senses, and she was so tired that she let it. She did not reach for her wand, nor for the lamp that she passed in the living room. Aurelia just stumbled around until she finally reached her bedroom.
She had almost found her mattress when she heard a noise through the pitch blackness. It was loud, like something warping... then there was a bang. The girl jumped at the sound, heart threatening to burst out of her chest. She scoured her bag for her wand and gripped it tightly in both hands.
"L-Lumos..." She stuttered in terror, lack of sleep surfacing her paranoia. The top of her wand sparked with a light that died as quickly as it had come. Aurelia took a deep breath and repeated herself, a little more clearly this time. "Lumos."
The light returned but this time it illuminated the entire room. The dark was chased away, and yet some of it seemed to take a solid form right in front of her. Aurelia felt a gasp rattle through her throat and suck into her lungs. Though her mouth hung open she was too shocked to scream.
The figure tensed then turned until a pale complexion contrasted against the darkness. Credence stood right in front of her. At first she wasn't sure if it was entirely real. It couldn't be. It was too convenient, too sudden. However, he looked at her with eyes of sunken sorrow, too unlike the ones she saw in her dreams; the bright, honeyed irises that she wished for them to be again.
Aurelia's hand extended outward, expecting to go right through him but hitting a skinny chest instead. It took no further convincing for her to pull the boy towards her and wrap him in a hug.
Credence froze in her grasp, arms stiff at his side without even the slightest attempt to return the act. When she parted his gaze was set on her, unsure and calculating.
