The Express - Gemini
Good morning sleepy head.
So, today we're going back to school. It would be so easy if we could just touch a Portkey and get whisked away to Scotland in the blink of an eye, but for reasons beyond me we have to go by steam train. Do you know how slow these things are? Although I must admit, being stuffed into Muggle transport along with a load of other teenagers does have its benefits. Gossip, for example, seems to spread like wildfire through these carriages.
And I start most of it.
I can't help it, it gives me a strange confidence boost. I love making sure people know who I am and what I can do. My brother says that's the reason I got placed in Slytherin: because I have to make sure I'm the centre of attention. This year's summer gossip, however, seems to be revolving around The Marauders. It's as though they've slipped a love potion into everyone's food, because all of a sudden they have girls fawning over them left, right and centre. I personally don't see the attraction. Give me a dark, mysterious guy any day. Especially if he's a charming gentleman who goes by the name of Regulus. But that, my friend, is a whole different rumour...

I look up to see Jasmine peering over my shoulder, a knowing smile on her face as she gently fans herself with her own diary. The two of us decided to both start one at the same time. We'd come to the conclusion that neither of us were any good at keeping secrets, and that it would be much safer if we just wrote all our thoughts down. Although once in a while I let her read mine, and vice versa.
"Do I want to know how you and Regulus Black are at the moment?"
I shrug as I tuck my diary into my bag, her eyes following me curiously. "I'm playing hard to get. He needs to learn that he can't just ignore me for the whole summer without there being consequences."
"You two..." she says, rolling her eyes.
I let out a laugh as I playfully smack her on the arm. I love Jas, she brings out the better side of me. Plus she's a Ravenclaw, so she's handy to have around when I get stuck on my Herbology homework.
"It's not as though you and Sirius are any better," I tease. "Has he plucked up the courage to ask you out yet, or are we going to have to wait another term before either of you make a move?"
"I don't know-" she starts, but before she can get another word out of her mouth, the carriage door slides open to reveal the man himself. Or should I say boy? The way he acts, I wouldn't be surprised if he was described as a child.
