maybe tomorrow

Maybe you'll wake up tomorrow and the sun will stream through the curtains and your joints won't ache and your eyes will spring open to greet the day. Maybe you'll dance in the kitchen while your morning coffee brews. Maybe the day will be light on your feet and easy on your heart.

Maybe you'll wake up tomorrow and the sun will stream through your curtains and it will be a battle to turn over and rise from your warm blankets. Maybe your eyes will blur from exhaustion. Maybe you'll cry in the shower and forego coffee due to the nausea in your stomach. Maybe the day will be heavy on your heart and dark to your soul.

Maybe you'll wake up tomorrow and the sun will shine and you'll have the energy until noon and the grades you have are better than you thought but you dropped half your sandwich on the ground. Maybe exhaustion will make it hard to move. Maybe depression will dog your steps. Maybe you will make an effort to live anyway.

In the end, life is about more than just surviving. But if that's what you must do for now, do not shackle yourself to any less.
