The Yule Ball was fast approaching and the blokes made it a point to make special proposals for their desired dates. It was probably because Scorpius' yule ball proposal to Lily made every girls' expectations high which intimidated, or rather- inspired the other men to do the same.

One of which was James Potter to Cassia Clearwater. He borrowed all his cousins' owls and made them carry a really big banner he spent days to create with an animation of a girl and a boy, dancing with a text that said: 'Cass, Yule Ball with me?' And of course, the girl gladly said yes.

The fifth year Gryffindor and Ravenclaw students were in their Study of Ancient Runes class before lunch. The room was filled with long rolls of parchments with runes that were already translated. Professor Rochita was standing behind the professor's table with a blank parchment placed on top of it. She swept her black bushy hair back and fixed her reindeer scarf as she cleared her throat.

"Today, you will be learning how to write runes and create sentences out of them." She studied the class, her big brown eyes looking at the students one by one.

"Open your textbooks to page 275." She said calmly while doing the same. "I want you all to take a parchment and copy the runes' symbols. It's already translated in alphabetical order - should be easy enough."

Lily took out a parchment, glancing at Alice who rolled her eyes. "This is rubbish, Lils. I don't understand why we have to take this class." She whispered in an annoyed tone as she borrowed some of Lily's parchment.

"It's not that bad. All you have to do is draw circles and lines." Lily giggled as she dipped the tip of her quill in the ink bottle. "Not as bad as Arithmacy, at least."

Lorcan and Lysander sat between Alice and Lily as Lorcan put his arms around their shoulders. "Hey, ladies. Mind if we join you?" Lorcan said with a charming smile.

"Sure, Lorc." Lily winked at Lorcan, knowing that he just wanted to sit beside Alice. Lorcan wiggled his eyebrows playfully in reply before turning to Alice who looked completely oblivious as to what was happening.

Lysander shook his head, chuckling. "Hey, Lils. Could I borrow your ink bottle? I just ran out." He raised his empty ink bottle as Lily nodded with a smile.

They started drawing the runes - Lorcan sometimes helping Alice with her work.

"Hey, Lily. Do you know who Zander is taking to the yule ball?" Lorcan asked when he finished.

"No, who?" Lily asked.

"Wait for it." Lorcan smirked, mischievously.

Lily looked at Lysander with a confused expression on her face, but before she could ask, the professor already spoke up.

"Lysander Scamander?" The professor was holding her class list as she looked up, searching for him. He raised his hand with a grin as the professor nodded. "Come up here and make us a sentence using the runes on your textbook."

He obediently stood up from his seat as he went to the professor's desk. The class silently watched him draw the runes on the blank parchment, some of them trying to get a good look on the sentence he was writing.

When he finished, the professor looked at him with pursed lips.

"What's he doing?" Alice grimaced as they watched Lysander and the professor whisper to each other. Lily shrugged her shoulders in reply while Lorcan conjured a bouquet of flowers with the tip of his wand.
