Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy had always been a mystery to Lily. Sure, he was the son of her father's childhood 'enemy', and yeah, he was a pureblooded Slytherin with gorgeous blonde locks and sharp contours on his face that made his chin and jaw stunningly beautiful...
Come to think of it, he's actually not as bad as people ought him out to be. Though he had this aura that made him quite mysterious.
He was like the moon; a part of him was always hidden.
Scorpius is a year older than Lily. He was a sixth year seeker in the Slytherin house like his father used to be. He definitely had loads of friends, including his best bud, Albus. Naturally, girls swarmed all over them. Who wouldn't fancy Scorpius, the 'bad boy' and Albus, the son of 'The Chosen One'?
Basically, that was all Lily knew about him. She never tried to dig in deep, and she never really bothered to.
Rose had her arms crossed, clearly pissed about being interrupted twice already.
"And why- may I ask, are you late, Mr. Malfoy?"
"I... Helped a first year to a... Seat."
He nodded once, though feeling unsure of himself.
"Mm, convincing." Rose stated, not sounding convinced at all.
Scorpius took a seat nearest to the door with a faint little smirk on his face.
After Rose finished her speech, they were all allowed to go back to each of their compartments as they were already near Hogwarts. Lily, Hugo, and Alice roamed around the corridors of the train, peering through glass-panelled doors into the compartments they passed, which were already full. In the very last carriage were Albus and two more people she couldn't distinguish because of the fog on the glass were blocking the view. Lily slid the door open and pulled her trunk inside. Hugo and Alice followed.
"Hey, Al. Mind if we stay here? All the other compartments are full." Lily sat down, now seeing the two identical blokes from Ravenclaw house, sitting stiffly on their backs.
"Yeah, go ahead." Albus moved so he could give more space to the others.
"Oi! It's Lorcan and Lysander!" Hugo beamed, as he sat down next to Alice. Lorcan and Lysander were a family friend. They were the sons of Lily's godmother, Luna and her husband Rolf Scamander.
"Hello, had a nice vacation?" Asked Lysander politely.
"As a matter of fact, we did!" Lily grinned, as she sat down next to her brother.
"Only because she got a Speedlight 3000 on her birthday." Albus said, filled with envy in his voice.
"You got to borrow it, anyway." Lily chuckled, nudging her brother.
Just then, the glass door slid open once again.
With his surprised expression, he was clearly not told that there were more people inside the compartment.
"I didn't know Albus was throwing a party in here." Scorpius joked, but no one laughed. They were all staring at him like he was the ghost of Christmas eve.
He cleared his throat and leaned on the door, awkwardly.
"Oh, sorry! They had nowhere else to stay so I let them sit with us. Do you mind?" Albus asked coolly.
"Not at all. I was busy trying to glue Zabini to her seat, but a first year beat her to it." The thought made everybody laugh.
"Ahh! So that's what you meant by 'helping a first year to a seat'!"
Everyone laughed harder, Alice laughing the longest.
"Zabini? You mean Alix Zabini?" Alice asked and Scorpius nodded.
"Isn't she the one who's dating your cousin? Fred Weasley?" The question was now directed at the Weasleys.
"Yeah, they're dating. They aren't really talking about it that much 'cause they used to hate each other since third year." Albus commented with a shrug.
"I'm surprised they even got together. Alix and Fred are really stubborn. They probably had a hard time admitting that they fancied each other." Hugo smirked.
Hugo and Albus had a close bond with James, Fred, Louis, and even Teddy. They used to hang out every weekend during the break for a bit of a "boy-cousin bonding" as they liked to call it.
The train skidded to a stop, thus informing them that the train had arrived at Hogsmeade station. Everyone changed to their robes and quickly went out of the crowded train. Lily was carrying her trolley along with her owl, so Scorpius decided to help carry her things.
"Thanks." Lily muttered under her breath and looked away, hoping she wasn't red on the cheeks.
The carriages were already there and Lily had no choice but to sit with Scorpius, seeing as he was carrying most of her things.
"I can carry it by myself, Scorpius, you really don't have to." She said trying to sound annoyed.
"Nah, it's no bother. I'm not bringing anything, anyway." He then looked at the other girls waving at him, all his things carried by them.
"You made girls carry your things for you?" Lily asked in disbelief.
"Hey, I told them not to, but they insisted plenty of times." He said, defensively, his hands raised in the air.
"Those girls just want a wittle time with Scorpy, and that's the best they could think of doing." Albus teased his friend.
"Shut up. Your things aren't here too. Where is it, then?" Scorpius leaned on the seat, a sly smile on his face.
"Fair point." Albus said firmly and nodded once.
Lily looked at the two, her face looking puzzled. She thought to herself, 'are boys really -that- big headed?'
The carriage moved by itself on the way to the castle. It was a silent journey, but Lily preferred it that way. She was beside Scorpius during the travel to Hogwarts, and she was doing her best to avoid eye-contact.
When Albus sensed the awkward barrier between the two, he quickly sat between them, a protective look on Albus' face. He eyed both Scorpius and Lily who were clearly trying to look away the best that they could. Albus gave Scorpius a look and Scorpius returned it with a very confident smile and shrugged his shoulders to tease Lily's protective brother more.
Albus nudged Scorpius and they started hitting each other playfully... That seemed to ease the tension.
"What was that all about?" Alice asked when they reached the Great Hall. The ceilings showed the starry night sky and floating candles. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff's flags hung against the old walls of the Great Hall. The long tables were filled with food which signified that the Hogwarts Feast was about to start.
Lily's train of thought were interrupted by Alice's question.
"What's what about?" She asked back, the look on her face showing that she wasn't paying attention.
"That." Alice pointed at Scorpius who was obviously staring at Lily. He quickly walked away, reuniting to his group of friends at the Slytherin table.
