Chapter 106

Karleigh's POV

It's odd because I can hear his voice...calling out to me.

But I'm not quite sure where I am.

This place I'm at, it manipulates my mind. There's nothing that I'm certain of here, and I don't like it. His voice keeps calling out to me.

"Come back to me." He'll say, but I don't where he is...or who he is.

I think I know, but I can never be sure.

All I know, is there's something about his voice that's keeping me afloat in these drowning waters I'm trapped in. So many voices keep coming and going, I can never be sure who they are, or what they're saying.

Everything's foggy.

"Karleigh." A booming voice says.

I nearly jump out of my skin from the clarity of the voice. This is the first voice I've heard that hasn't sounded muffled. If only I could locate where the voice was coming from.

A bright beacon of light is burning my eyes and I squint my eyelids as I try to spot the being. "Hello?" I ask hoarsely.

"Karleigh, my daughter." The voice says, but this time, I can see clearly.

The man before me is my father. His familiar face is studying mine, and I take a step closer towards him.

"Dad? W-where am I?" I choke.

"It doesn't matter where you are now Karleigh, it matters where you need to be." He strongly states, but I'm beyond confused. "It's time to go back." He adds.

"Back where? I don't understand?" I whisper.

My father smiles brightly at me as he starts to fade away into the distance. "Follow your heart, and it'll take you back."

I watch in astonishment as my dad disappears completely. My body is frozen, no movement to be made. My mind is buzzing and I can't get a clear grasp on my thoughts.

The enticing voice, that always draws me in, rings in my ears.

"I miss you, Karls." He says.

"You do?" I ask aloud, but he can't seem to hear me.

"Please, come back." He begs.

"Where!" I shout. "Show me, where!"

Nothing happens and I stay frozen for what seems like an eternity.

A magnetic force seems to be tugging my mind closer to his voice though. As the unnamed voice continues to talk, I gravitate closer and the voice becomes more clear. Everything seems to be moving much faster, but I have no control over anything.

"Follow my heart, it'll take me back." I think to myself. But the only thing I'm following is this deep, husky voice, how is that my heart?

A pounding pain, throbs in my head and I'm paralyzed in darkness. Everything goes dark, including my state of mind.

*********************************

A bright ray of light is hitting me directly in the face as I try to peel apart my eyes, and a loud groan escapes my lips. My hands are shaky and my entire body feels uncertain, but I manage to lean forward.

I focus in on my surroundings, and the casual, modern room that I'm in is very neat and it smells like moth balls. I move to lift my hand, but a clear chord, with a needle attatched is injected into my wrist.
