Chapter 110
Harry's POV
Her blue eyes peer up at me and I'm stunned into silence.
"Harry." She blurts.
I awkwardly clear my throat and divert my gaze to the soaking wet material of her shirt, that I caused.
"Shit, I'm sorry." I monotonously say, bringing her attention back to her ruined blouse.
Her eyes drop to the stain and she rolls her eyes, looking back up at me. "Can we talk about last night?" Karleigh nervously asks, picking away the small nails on her fingers. She's always done that.
Images of her pressing her lips against mine last night, flash through my mind. My lips part and I take in deep breathes to calm my nerves.
"There's nothing to talk about." I smoothly reply.
She scoffs and glares at me. "Harry--" she starts.
"Stop it Karleigh. You said you wanted me to stay away, so I will." I snarl.
An expression of shock flashes across her features and she takes a step back.
Like a fish, her lips open and close repeatedly. "I know but..."
I hand her a wad of napkins. "Here, for the spill." I explain, gesturing towards the red stain on her chest.
She snatches the napkins and scrubs the red stain down her front. Her motions seem hesitant and she keeps glancing up at me to make sure I haven't vanished.
My hands are awkwardly shoved into my pockets and I reflect on last night. I can only imagine her reaction to finding her bedroom vacant this morning. Well I told her I'd be gone.
As my thoughts trudge on, I find myself getting more and more frustrated with last night's occurrences.
"What?" Karleigh's voice breaks me from my trance and I blink back to reality. Her blue orbs are focused intently on me and I raise my brows in confusion.
"You've just been staring at me." She mumbles.
"Sorry." I apologize for what seems like the thousandth time today. Again, I clear my throat and I look away from Karleigh, who's still scrubbing the red stain on her shirt.
"I'd better be going." I lie.
Her hands abruptly stop their scrubbing motions, and her eyes flick up to mine. "To where?" She slowly asks.
"Nosy much." I reply swiftly.
She's taken aback by my snarky remark, but she quickly collects herself. "Well you did spill piss smelling juice all over my shirt, not to mention it's red so I'll never get this stain out. I think you at least owe me an explanation." She huffs.
My arms fold over my chest defensively. "I don't owe you anything. You said you wanted me out of your life, so that's what I'm trying to do." I hiss.
"Fine." She spits, turning away from me and padding away down the sidewalk, getting lost in the mix of people that are walking about.
For a moment, I watch her walk away, but something builds inside of me, and I begin to follow her. Annoyance, that's what the feeling is. Annoyance at the fact that I was the one trying to walk away from her, yet she managed to walk away from me. Again.
"Karleigh." I shout over the music that's streaming into my earbuds from nearby stores.
Her feet stop walking, and she turns around to look at me. An amused smirk is obvious upon her face.
