Chapter 112

Harry's POV

I don't know what's going on.

Karleigh's fists are clenched much too tightly around the steering wheel and she's gasping for air. Her eyes are squeezed shut and I can see that she's shaking.

"Karleigh?" I ask her.

We're still parked in my mom's driveway. I glance out the window but nobody is around I'm starting to panic. Whimpers are falling from her parted lips and I rest my hand in her shoulder to capture her attention but she doesn't budge.

"Karls!" I say, louder, only for her to ignore me again.

Her skin is turning pale and her entire body is trembling in a frightening way.

Not knowing what else to do, I start to lightly shake her.

Suddenly her eyes fly open and I jerk my hand away from her. The inside of the car is fairly dark so I can't make out her facial expression.

Her lips seperate again and I wait for her to speak but she doesn't. Instead she realeases a panicked shriek, startling me.

Her movements are rushed as she grips the door handle and jumps out of my car.

"Karleigh!" I shout, jumping out if the car after her.

It's only the two of us and it's dark out side. She's pacing up and down the driceway, taking her fingers through her long locks like I've seen her do so many times before.

She's still breathing heavy as she lets out another scream.

"Fuck!" She screeches.

"Karleigh, what is it?" I try to tell over her screams. My feet automatically take a step closer towards her but she furthers herself from me.

"Karleigh, please, let me in." I plead with her.

For a brief moment her blue eyes lock on mine before they dart away and she starts pacing again.

"I remembered something. A memory." Karleigh chokes.

Her words make my blood turn cold and I freeze. I feel as if I'm paralyzed and I don't know what to say.

Attempting I snap myself out of it, I step towards her again. "About what?" I dare to ask, hope bubbling within me.

She doesn't answer, instead she takes in a few more shaky breaths as she extends her arms out in front of her.

Her orbs stare blankly at her forearms and I stare at her in the darkness, still awaiting her answer.

"Oh my god." Her strangled voice is being choked by the sobs building in her throat.

I've moved close enough to where I can now see what she's looking at.

The scars on her arms, from where the shattered glass sliced her in the accident.

Through her lashes she peers up at me. "The scars. T-they're hideous." She hysterically sobs.

I have a vague idea what she remembered now that she's piecing things together and my heart is aching for her.

With one of her hands, she runs the pads of her finger along the scars on one of her arms. "Hideous." She whispers again, mainly to herself.

I catch her wrist in my palm and lift her hand. She watches me carefully as I slowly, but cautiously, bring her arm to my lips and kiss the trail of scars along her skin softly. "They're unique, like you." I whisper to her.
