"Kylee, I need to see you after class," Mr. Brown said quietly in my ear.

I jumped. I didn't even know he was there!

"Why?"  I ask.

Mr. Brown ignores me and goes over to a kid, helping him with his question.

I shrugged, turning back to my book.

2 minutes later, the bell rang, and everyone quickly stuffed their junk into their backpacks, eager for the 3-day weekend.

I, however, lagged behind. After eveyone left, I went up to Mr. Brown.

"So....what did you need me for?" I asked. I couldn't wait to go home an finish my book.

"Kylee, you know you're the smartest student here an Lincoln High," he started, shuffling papers into neat stacks. One of the papers fell away, and I immediatly felt the urge to fix it.

Squashing the urge, I blush and roll my eyes. "No, I'm not. I just do my work and pay attention. It's not rocket science."

Mr. Brown smiles. "Ah, yes. Well, if everyone had the same attitude as you, Miss. Wire, I would be very happy. However, it is not the case. I need you to tutor someone, but in all subjects. I would only give this job to you, since I know you would be able to handle it."

Jeez, all subjects? I usually tutor with one, maybe two subects per kid. This kid must really be stuggling.

"Sure thing, Mr. Brown. Who is it?"  I said with my best smile.

"Braxton Shaw."

Holy cheeseballs. Braxton Shaw?

"Um, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do that, sir," I stutter.

Braxton Shaw was the ultimate bad boy, heartbreaker, and player.  He had gotten suspended more times than I could count. Rumor is that he got expelled, too, but his rich daddy paid for him to come back.

And Mr. Brown thought I wouold survive being in an enclosed space with him everyday.

Ha, no.

Mr. Brown smiled knowlingly, "Sure you can. He should be in there right now, so go run along and meet him."

I shake my head. "No, Mr. Brown. You don't understand. I don't think it'll be...uh....good for my health."

He laughed. "Nonsense. Besides, didn't you want a letter of recomendation....?"

I stifled a gasp. I've been wanting to get that letter of recomendation for months. He couldn't do that, right?

Mr. Brown's mischievous eyes told me that yes, he could and yes, he would.

"Fine," I growled. "I'll tutor the stupid monkey."

Mr. Brown flashed a bright smile. "Excellent. Go, now. You shouldn't keep him waiting." He handed me a folder with all the work in it.

I grumble, but take the folder. "Yes, heaven forbid that he waits a single second for a lowly peasent like myself," I mutter.

Walking down the hall to the library, I was grumbling to myself. I couldn't believe that Mr. Brown would sink to that level, to bribe me to tutor a student. It was absolutely ridiculous. I rounded the corner and walked into the library.

As I enter the library, I notice several things at once.

1- The librarian wasn't there (shocker)

2- A group of jocks were sitting at the corner table, near the back (a true shocker)

3- Braxton Shaw was among them (and yet another shocker)

Wonderful. Taking a deep breath, I walked into the oh-so shocking scene and up to the stupid monkey group. I cleared my throat awkwardly.

I was hoping for just Braxton's attention, but instead the enitre group turned and looked. I blushed.

There were four guys. One brunnette, two blonds, and a freckled redhead. I recongized all of them, of course.

The two blondes were twins, Jack and Jason Dean. Blonde hair, blue eyes, tanned skin. The picture of California sufer dudes. They did modeling, too, and so they weren't exactly on the flabby side, if you know what I mean.

The redhead was Eli Chapman, the class clown. He had forest green eyes that twinkled with mischief. Freckled were sprinled across his pale skin like stars in the night sky.  I liked him the best- he knew how to make people laugh.

The brunnette, who was sitting closest to me, was none other than Braxton Shaw. Tall, black/brown hair, smoldering brown eyes with a facial stucture to die for, he was the poster child for the bad boy magazine.

"Hi. I'm Kylee. I'm going to be Braxton's tutor." I said quietly. "Mr. Brown wants us to start now."

A minute passed.

Eli smiled at me, a confused look on his face. "Darling, could you say that one more time? You said it so fastm I couldn't understand a thing you said."

I blushed harder, and repeated my message.

Braxton stood up and grabbed his bag. "Alright. Let's go, Mormon girl."

"What?" I asked, taken aback.

"You're Mormon, aren't you?"

I slowly nodded my head, wondering what that had to do with anything.

Braxton shared a knowling smile with his friends.

"Well, this will be a fun game. Much more interesting than last time."

The twins laughed, and Eli joined in.
