I knocked on the door of the Mystery Shack.

"Coming!" a voice called. Gideon opened the door and beamed when he saw me. "(Y/N)!" he exclaimed. You're okay!"

I let out a nervous laugh. "Yep..." I said. "I am..."

"Come in!" Gideon said. "Pacifica will be thrilled to see you! She's been worrying ever since last night's show!"

I smiled. My own family had never cared about me like this. Gideon took me upstairs to our room. Pacifica jumped up, screamed, and squeezed the living daylights out of me. I couldn't believe it, but I almost thought she was crying.
"(Y/N)!" she squeaked. "I missed you!"

I hugged her back. "Well, I'm okay now." I laughed a bit. After we let go, I said, "You guys are way too nice to me..."

"Well," Pacifica chirped, "you're family! Of course we're nice to you!"

"Yeah!" Gideon chimed in. "You're family now, so we treat you like it!"

I hugged them. "You guys are the best!"

We spent the day just hanging out with each other, and then we all were exhausted by the end of the day. We pretty much passed out on the beds.

~~The next day~~

I woke up early the next morning. The sky was still dark. I looked out the window and there was no moon. For some reason, I felt a strange impulse to go outside. I made sure not to wake Gideon and Pacifica, and I stepped into the cool night air.

I started to wander. I didn't know where I was going, and it was like my feet were moving of their own accord. They were taking me somewhere I didn't know. I was numb to everything around me. I was just walking blindly.

I suddenly realized where I was going. I looked up to see the mansion at the top of the hill. Trusting my instincts, I walked up the hill to the mansion.
I stopped at the gate. I happened to be good at scaling walls, and I barely managed to clamber over the stones, using them as footholds. The poles on top of the wall were easy to get past. I climbed down the wall and headed to the mansion.

One of the windows had light in it. No; several windows leading to the same room were filled with light. I peeked in to find the Gleeful twins in the mansion.

"For the millionth time, Mabel, I don't know why (Y/N) survived that night!" Dipper said.

"She's a demon of some sort!" Mabel hissed. "A succubus! A vampire! Anything! Dipper, she's not normal! If you would just pay attention, you'd know that!"

"I know she's not normal!" Dipper shot back. "I don't know what she is, Mabel, but ever since she came into town, I've known she's different! She's not anything like Will, don't be so extreme, but she's definitely not normal!"
"Then what exactly is she?" Mabel said.
"Wait!" Dipper shushed. "Someone's watching us."
I shied away from the window, but I could've sworn that Dipper had seen me. My fear was confirmed when Dipper said, "(Y/N), you can come out, we know you're there."
I peeked into the window again. Dipper and Mabel were now staring at me. With a snap of his fingers, Dipper sent me into the blinding blue void before I was thrown into reality again. This time, I was in the mansion.

Right in front of the twins.

I couldn't move. It felt like I was locked in place by their stares. Finally Dipper spoke.

"How did you get in here?" he asked. I was a bit taken aback. Contrary to my belief, he seemed...amused that I'd gotten in here.

"N-None of your business!" I retorted defensively. I groaned, exasperated. "Dipper Gleeful, I don't know who or what you are, but you're not normal! That night...I don't even know what to say! What was that? I...I don't even--"

Dipper stopped me. "(Y/N)," he said, "you're not normal, either."
I scoffed. "Not normal? Oh, sure. Prove it! I'll believe it when I see it, you freaky magic weirdo!"

He grabbed my shoulders, looking at me squarely in the eyes. I glared right at him, my eyes filled with disgust. "(Y/N), I don't know how, but I know that you're not normal. Remember the mall?" I nodded. "I didn't know you. I wanted to. Mabel and I could just tell you weren't normal. We thought that maybe you were just some odd person, but that all changed that night."

"So what about it?" I snarled.

"If you were normal, you wouldn't have survived all that magic all at once. You're special, (Y/N). No, not just special; you have magic."

I stepped away from them. "Wait, wait, wait," I said. "You mean to tell me that I'm like you?"
"No," Mabel sneered, "we mean to tell you that you're a freak! You're not normal!"

"Mabel!" Dipper snapped. "Now is not the time!" Dipper turned back to me. "(Y/N), in Reverse Falls, you will find many strange things. You have magic, and at your age, it's hard to control. I want you to join me and Mabel during our shows. No, that's not a request," he said when I opened my mouth to protest. "That's an order. Mabel and I will let you know about any shows. Just show up and Stan will let you in."

"How in the world are your shows going to help me?" I asked. "You don't even know what kind of magic I have!"

"Well," Dipper said, "we know it's there. Your magic protected you from ours, and I'm pretty sure I have an idea of what it could be." Dipper looked out the window and said, "You should go. Gideon and Pacifica will start to worry if you're not home when they wake up." I nodded. Dipper teleported me to the Mystery Shack (I was used to the sensation by now) and I sat on the bed.

Gideon yawned and woke up. "You're already awake?" he asked me.

"Yeah..." I replied. "I couldn't sleep very well."

"Well, now we're all up early!" a familiar, cheerful voice called out. Pacifica beamed. "What should we do today?"

Suddenly, a knock was heard at the door. "I got it!" I yelled, running to the door. Of course, Dipper was there. Gideon ran down with Pacifica and he frowned when he saw Dipper.

"Oh," he said. "What do you want?"

"I just wanted to borrow (Y/N) for a bit," Dipper replied coolly. He stared at me, telling me he meant business. I rolled my eyes.

"Do I have to?" I complained. Dipper nodded and I headed upstairs to change out of my pajamas.

Changing my clothes didn't take that long, and Dipper and I had left before Gideon and Pacifica could protest.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Well," Dipper replied, "since you're going to be in our shows from now on, you're going to need some performance clothes. We're going back to the mansion."

"You've got to be kidding me!" I shot back. "Dipper, I know you're up to something! Fine, if I really do have magic, explain why I have to be pulled into one of your weird magic shows!" I stopped walking.

"We're trying to help you!" Dipper retorted. He grabbed my hand in an attempt to drag me to the mansion, but he let go as quickly as he'd grabbed it. It was as if I'd set his hand on fire.

"What's your problem?" I pretty much yelled. My eyes widened when I saw that Dipper's hand had turned red. No, not red like how your hand becomes when it gets sweaty on a hot day; it was red as if my fingers had burned him. I looked at my own hands. Blue flames danced at my fingertips. "W-What...?"

Dipper interrupted my train of thought and dragged me to the mansion. "This is why you need to be careful," he said. "Now let's go before you make a scene."

I gave up and went to the mansion with Dipper, leaving sizzling black footprints in my wake...
