After my phone call with my sister, I threw my hair into a messy bun and put on an oversized sweater over my t shirt and jeans.

"Avery are you ready?!" I can hear my mom scream at me from down the hall.

"Yeah!" I yell back.

Making sure I had my phone in my sweater pocket i walked out of my room and met my parents at the bottom step.

"Lets go we're going to be late!" My mom snips.

Before my dad can even put the car in park I jumped out of the car and sped walked up to the youth group chapel.

A few feet in front of me I can see my grade level sitting in a circle with Lukas sitting with his back faced towards me. Sauntering towards him as he turns around, a big smile appears on my face.

"Hey Lukas." I smile as I sit next to him.

"Hey Avery." He gets up just before my butt hits the cushion to give me a hug.

"So anything new?" I ask as I reach for my blue bible out of my purse.

"Kinda but I think we should wait until after,to talk." He tells me before turning towards the group leader.

"Oh okay, well we are defiantly talking later." My smile starts to fade as Alison our group leader shushes us which pisses me off a bit.

The pastor starts to speak and goes on about the way we deal with personal issues from our past and how it can hold us back from seeing what our futures hold. The lesson was pretty short which I thanked Jesus for.

The minute Lukas and I stepped outside I jumped on his back almost giving him a heart attack.

"So spill the beans kid!" I yell before jumping down off him.

We head to a stair case on the other side of the church, a place we go to get away from everyone. Lukas takes a deep breath as he looks up to the night sky.

"We'll see you remember bo right?" He asks before continuing.

"Lockett?" I ask confirming if it was the same person I was thinking of.

"Yeah, well I sat down next to her in clas the other day and we sorta hit it off. But like I don't know." He plays with his fingers and looks lost in his own thoughts for a moment before snapping out of it.

"What do you mean?" I ask testing my chin on my hand.

"It's just bo is so secretive and I don't really know her. Then, two nights ago all of us went to a party, she got so drunk, so Adrian and I took her home."

"That was very sweet of you two." I complimented his actions.

"But that's the thing avery; I had to search her wallet to find out where she lives and on top of that, I found out that she has an apron from the restaurant, aqua." Raising an eyebrow I shrug not really thinking it was such a big deal that she had a job or didn't tell people she barley knows where she lives.

"Even when I asked her about it, she froze like a deer in headlights and denied everything." He lets out a sigh obviously stressed out about this.

"Lukas don't take that stuff personally. Bo has always been a quiet girl, I don't think she likes people knowing about her. It probably takes a lot to get her to open up." He nods so I continue on with my advice.

"Maybe if you get really close to her and prove to her that you won't betray her, she'll trust you enough to tell you." I keep eye contact with him to make sure he gets my point.

"That could work, thank you so much, Avery." He leans to give me a big hug.

"You're welcome." I smile but let it turn back into a frown.

"What's wrong? Is there something bothering you?" Lukas asked as he sensed I was letting my thoughts control my emotions.

"I think I'm starting to really like some and I'm not supposed to." I looked away thinking about mr.grayson and I.

"Why aren't you supposed to like this person?" He asked clearly confused.

"Because he's a lot older than me." I speak quietly. I try to not let the heart wrenching pain I feel in my chest take over.

I should still be on that happy high from earlier but the thoughts of reality start to flood my mind.

"Do you want to talk about this?" Lukas places his hand on my back, rubbing it softly.

"No I rather not, thank you though." I try to smile but it isn't the best.

"Any time Avery, I have to get going though, parents are here." He gets off the steps and wipes his jeans. Getting up and doing the same thing, we give each other a quick side hug before he runs off to his parents car.

I sit back on the steps and look at the time on my phone. It reads 8:30pm, my parents don't get out until 9:30 so I still have an hour.

As I sit there scrolling through my social media it's interrupted by an incoming call.

"Hey Elijah." I say a smile appearing on my face.

"Hey baby girl." He says making my heart skip a beat.

"Giving pet names already?" I giggle.

"I figured it'd be something different than what I call you on a day to day basis." He explains.

"Makes sense, so whatcha calling about?" I twirl a strand of hair around my finger.

"I just wanted to talk to you before we go to sleep."

"How cute, well I have an hour before my parents get out of church so you have the entire 60 minutes." I laugh making him chuckle.

Elijah and I end up talking for the entire hour until I had to rush off the phone with him as I saw my parents come into view.
