*age 5*
"This is the central control panel, next to it is the hovering device, understand, Katie?"
Katie looks up from the picture she was drawing to nod. Her dad chuckles and looks at the drawing. Its a detailed picture of what he was just showing her, well as detailed as you can get from a 5 year old.
"Katie, pass me the flat head." Her dad asks looking inside to find a loose screw, like the one in her drawing. She passes the screwdriver to her father with her small, chubby hand. He takes it gently.
"Brilliant."
*age 7*
"Matt! Dad! Look what I made!" Katie calls out running into their workshop. She holds up a small box with a button. She presses the button and the box flips into what looks like a spider.
"Wow! Whats the spider do?"
"Opens locks." She lets it crawl to his father's cabinet. Two of its legs enter the lock and a few seconds later the lock clicks open.
"That's amazing, Katie. " Her brother says ruffling her hair.
*age 10*
"Matt? In flight school? But he's not a pilot!"
"He'll be a pilot's mechanic."
"B-but who will help you then?"
"You can, Katie. "
Her voice gets quieter. "Who will walk me to the bus and make sure the monsters are gone from my closet?"
Matt comes from around the corner
"Is that why you dont want me to leave? I'm gonna miss you but I'll be back during break and try to visit on weekends. "
"P-promise?"
"I promise"
*age 14*
"You're such a nerd. Where's your brother and your dad? Off in space camp?" The young boy says pushing Katie to the ground.
"They wanted to get away from katie the freak. " Another boy says, tossing her project to the floor.
"No one likes you. Such a freak in a freak family." Katie launches herself at the boy. She punches him square in the nose.
"Dont. You. EVER. Insult. My family. Again." She says before being pulled off by the other boys. They throw her down and Katie feels the fist to her eye.

"Katie what happened?" Her mother asks seeing her black eye. Katie begins to cry.
"I-I-I'm sorry, c-can we call M-Matt?"
*age 16*
"Space?" Katie asks
"Yeah, me and dad would be gone for a year or so."
"A-alright. Be careful and make it back as soon as possible."
"Of course Katie Kat, I love you. " Matt says pulling her into a hug.
"I love you too."
If only she knew that would be the last time she spoke to her brother.
*age 17*
"Gunderson?"
"Here, sir!" Pidge calls out from her position in the line.
"McClain?"
"Here, sir!"
"Garett?"
"Here, sir!"
"You three are now brothers in arms. You will train together, fly together, eat together, you will become one force and the same goes for the rest of you once you get your groups. Am I understood?"
"Yes, sir!" The entire class calls back.
(I am so sorry for the lack of updates, I'm in florida. Do you want a Keith back story too? Sorry that this chapter is short, I'll try to keep up with my updates. Im gonna be busy since im going to harry potter world, and staying in florida for a while. This is way too short i feel terrible. Im sorry)
