Chapter 19: Sophie Johnson

What?

Rose killed her?

I was still kinda confused about the whole twins thing. That would explain a lot of things that has happened lately.

Autumn's mother looked as if she was frozen in time. "Wh-What?"

"Allow me to explain."

"Alyssa, your mother was a witch. An evil witch, at that. She had given you a curse at birth, and the only way to stop the same thing from happening to Autumn was for me to kill her. I had no other choice. I one of the twins was to die, the other would also."

"But, I don't remember her giving me a curse."

"That's because you were only a baby. She cursed you with pain and cruelness. That's why you've always had an urge to hurt you daughter."

Wow. This explained a lot.

Alyssa's face went pale. I could tell she had no intention of hurting Autumn; it had come through a curse.

"In that case..."

"What are you thinking, Alyssa?"

She turned to Autumn. "My daughter, I have hurt you gravely. And I think it's only fair that I die in her place."

"You don't have to do this." Autumn's face turned pale.

"Yes I do. For you." She walked over and kissed every one of her daughters and blew two kisses into the air, saying, "I'm sorry I could not bid you go, boys. But I have to do this."

She walked up to the fairy.

"I am ready."

Rose nodded. "You have made a wise decision."

I looked away. I couldn't watch.

I looked back a moment later.

And she was gone.
