The Flock

Chapter Six: A Complete Flock

I started a fire and watched everyone sleep. Everyone looked so peaceful when they slept. It was cute and calm. A noise in a nearby bush took me off guard. I clenched my fists and prepared myself to defend my friends. A girl with black wings came out. She had long brown hair and blue eyes. She smiled at me.

"Sorry if I scared you. My name is Katheryn. Can I join you and your flock?" she asked with a smile. She gave me a puppy dog face. I looked away quickly. One of my weaknesses was puppy dog faces. SkyBird always used that face to make me go soft.

"You can join," I said kindly. Katheryn gave a big toothy grin and sat down. I sighed and sat down too.

"So what's your name?" Katheryn asked me.

"My name is Hero Winged," I replied putting more wood in the fire.

"Cool name," Katheryn smiled.

"It's okay," I said.

"So is Hero Winged your real name?" Katheryn asked,

"No. I don't use my real name anymore. I came up with the name Hero cause I want to be a hero. I came up with the last name Winged cause I have wings," I said to Katheryn.

"Watch out!" a girl yelled to Katheryn and I. I grabbed Katheryn and swooped out of the way just in time to dodge the girl who crash landed. The girl had brown hair that went a little below her shoulders and she had blue eyes. She wore a grey/brown jacket and pants. Her wings were purple.

"Didn't mean to scare you two. I'm Katie. I'm a vampire and a werewolf," the girl said jumping to her feet.

"Do you wanna join our flock?" Katheryn said with a smile.

"Sure," Katie said dusting herself off.

"So is there any other avians around here? Cause if there is please just come out," I yelled out to the sky. Katheryn laughed.

"This area is an avian hot spot. Lot's of avians come around here," Katie told me.

"I can tell," I said tunring to Katie.

"See. There's an avian right in front of you," Katheryn said pointing. I turned my head back to the front and came face to face with a girl. She had choppy night-black hair with red tips that reached her shoulders and red eyes. She wore black chucks with black and red shoelaces, black and grey jeans that were torn, black, red, and dark purple suspenders that she wore hanging down, a Hot Topic t-shirt, and a black hooded jacket. She had two snakebites and also wore a pentacle around her neck. Her wings were black and looked to be raven wings. I fell backwards from surprise then jumped back to my feet.

The girl shook her head and looked at me.

"Who are you?" I asked my heart still beating from shock.

"My name is Rowan Crowley. Can I be in your flock?" the girl asked.

"Okay sure you can join. By the way I'm Hero Winged," I replied. Katheryn, Katie, Rowan, and I all chatted then woke the rest of the flock up. We all introduced each other. We spent the day talking to each other and getting to know one another better.

"Okay. How about we each say one thing about ourselves," I said to everyone. We all sat around the fire.

"And once you say one thing about yourself you pick someone and then they say one thing about themselves," SkyBird added.

"I'll go first," Sol said raising her hand.

"Okay," I said.

"I can talk to animals. Okay Luna your turn," Sol said turning to Luna.

"I don't like people who hurt animals. You can go Skylar," Luna replied.

"Ok. I'm a daredevil and won't back down from a fight. Your turn Ayame," Skylar said with a smile.

"Don't freak out ok but I know how to blood bend. I guess you can go next Autumn," Ayame said with a small smile.

"I have mastered karate and martial arts. Keno's up next," Autumn said quietly.

"Sometimes I fly into a rage which makes me stronger and faster. You can go Naxtern," Keno said grinning.

"I can do electrokinesis and hydrokinesis. Sapphy can go," Naxtern said tiredly.

"I love dragons a lot. SkyBird you can go now," Sapphy said politely.

"I believe that when you see a black butterfly someone dies. Um...Katheryn can go," SkyBird replied.

"I can control the weather. Katie's turn," Katheryn said proudly.

"I am a vampire and a werewolf. Your turn Rowan," Katie answered.

"I'm Wiccan and can do pyrokinesis. Ray you can go," Rowan said.

"I love to sing. You can go Aisha," Ray said calmly.

"When I'm in the water I have a mermaid tail. What about you Peter?" Aisha answered.

"I have an older brother. You're turn Hero," Peter said patting me on the shoulder.

"Ok. Sometimes I dream of future events," I said with a small grin.

"So now what?" SkyBird asked.

"I think it's time we show these humans that avians are just as good as them," I replied outstretching my wings.

"Yeah. Let's show these humans who's awesome!" Keno shouted. We all laughed. We all outstretched our wings. Autumn grabbed Keno and we all took to the sky. There's no way anyone would get in our way.
