The Flock

Chapter Ten: Ambush

"We should go back and get Hero," Peter said to the flock.

"He's right. We should break her out of there," Skylar agreed.

"Let's go kick some human butt!" Luna said cracking her knuckles. The flock turned around and headed for the facility where I would be found. After an hour and a half the building was in their sight. SkyBird suddenly stopped dead in her tracks.

"What's wrong?" Ayame asked stopping herself.

"Something's not right," SkyBird said staring at the building.

"She's right. Alarms are going off," Keno said listening closely.

"I don't see any of those men in black army suits outside," Skylar said looking.

"What do you think is going on down there?" Rowan asked. Katie shrugged.

"I, I think maybe Hero-" SkyBird started.

"You mean you think that she actually escaped?!" Sol asked.

"She probably did," Ray replied

"That would explain the arlarms going off and the lack of those creepy men outside," Autumn answered.

"What if those creepy men are looking for her?!" Katheryn said worried.

"We need to find as quickly as possible," Sapphy said.

"Then lets start," Peter replied. They all landed near a tree and began thinking of where to start looking.

"My necklace!" SkyBird shouted running to a tree.

"What?" Skylar asked not knowing what SkyBird.

"My necklace that I threw! It landed right here but it's not here!" SkyBird said pointing to the spot her necklace had fallen. There was no necklace there anymore.

"Then this proves it. She did escape," Naxtern replied

"She probably went the direction she saw us going," Aisha said pointing. SkyBird nodded her head. They all headed back to retrace their steps to find a lost member of the flock.

"I've got you now! You little freaks of nature!" a voice boomed. The whole flock turned to where the voice was coming from. Below them on the ground was the president of the united states with those freaky men in black army suits waiting for order.

"Oh great. Look what the cat dragged in," Luna snicked. Sol giggled in agreement.

"I don't think this man is threat. He looks a bit too old," Rowan added. Katie nodded her head and grinned.

"Don't be fooled by his looks. He shot Peter in the stomach with a gun before," Sapphy cautioned the others.

"I remember that. I healed the wound. It was pretty bad. The president used bullets for animals which only shredded and tore at the flesh. A bullet like that can cause some horrible pain, infection, and the worst part is you feel all the pain of it," Ayame replied. Peter nodded and ducked behind SkyBird. SkyBird shook her head and gave a small smile.

"What did you do to Hero?!" Ray asked the president.

"I did not do anything to her. She is fine," the president replied.

"Wait what about my necklace?!" SkyBird blurted out. SkyBird know wondered who had her necklace.

"Oh? Do you mean this necklace?" the president answered revealing a crystal necklace in the palm of his hand.

"My necklace!" SkyBird shouted as she dove down to retrieve it.

"No don't!" Autumn called out to SkyBird as she held Keno. SkyBird wasn't listening though. She wanted her necklace back. There was no way she was going to let that man touch her necklace. SkyBird landed on the ground only ten feet away from the flock's biggest enemy. The president lifted his arm and pointed at SkyBird. A scythe came between SkyBird and the president.
