You woke up from yet another nightmare. You knew that being a hunter meant nightmares, but they were getting more and more frequent. Groaning, you rolled out of bed and shuffled to the kitchen. Sam and Dean were already awake and perky. "Good morning ___!" Sam exclaimed. You only grunted and moved toward the coffee maker. They chuckled at your grumpiness. The coffee slowly dripped into the pot and you poured a generous helping in your special mug. Suddenly, a whoosh and a ripple of feathers sounded through the calm air. Whipping around, you sloshed the scalding hot liquid on your hand. "Sh-!" You stopped mid cuss. Your eyes grew wide and you froze.

Wings. Huge, onyx, powerful wings were taking up the entire room. You rubbed your eyes. Just as suddenly as they came, they disappeared. You finally heard Sam and Dean fussing around you. "___, oh my god. Are you okay?" Sam asked. You cleared your throat a few times before you found your voice. "Yeah, yeah I'm okay. I just thought I saw something." You waved off their concern. "Really guys, I'm fine. I'm going to bandage my hand and get more coffee." You moved to get the first aid kit, when Castiel stopped you. "Allow me." He spoke. He reached up and touched two fingers to your forehead. The burning in your hand vanished and was replaced with a warm that made you smile. "Thank you Castiel. You saved me some serious burns." You grinned, but that grin slowly faded as you saw his expression.

Squinting, you questioned him. "Hey Cas(s), you okay?" He only frowned more. "What exactly did you see ___?" You recoiled in confusion and furrows your brows. "It was nothing, just a lack of coffee or something. Castiel shook his head. "No. You saw something and you will tell me." You snorted. "Wow Cas(s). Ever heard of sugar coating something?" He tilted his head in confusion. "Why would you coat something in sugar when that thing is hypothetical?" You laughed and patted his arm. "It's a figure of speech. Okay, fine, you caught me. I thought I saw wings. But then they were gone, so I just imagined it. No big deal." Castiel perked up at your explanation. "What color were the wings?" You smiled fondly as you thought of them. "They were the most gorgeous black I've ever seen. They were massive, but they didn't seem like the owner would use them for destruction. I feel like they would be soft, perhaps like velvet." You sighed and then glanced up to him. There was more color in his cheeks than normal and he wasn't staring at you, rather the rough concrete.

You reached up and moved his eyes to meet yours. "Hey, what's the matter? I'm sorry if I upset you or anything like that." You apologized. Castiel's ocean eyes crinkled in embarrassment. "No ___. You have not upset me, quite the opposite. When a human is able to see the wings of an angel, it means the angel is the humans guardian." You gasped in shock and amazement. "Wait, seriously? I thought that was a legend or a myth. Wow, I've got a guardian angel. That's not something you hear everyday." You processed all of these, then smirked. "Ha Dean! Mom was right! Angels were watching over us!" You hollered into the kitchen. "Shut up ___!" Dean yelled back, but you could hear the teasing in his voice. You giggled, then turned to your guardian angel. "Let's get some coffee guardian angel." You smiled. Castiel cocked his head again. "But ___ angels do not require food or liquids." You shook your head and pulled him by his tie to the kitchen.
