Chapter 5
Amber P.O.V
The area by my shoulder throbbed with pain as I sat on the cushy chair in the nurse's room. I refused to tell her what happened to my shoulder, and she didn't argue with me.
"Don't tell me I have to go to a hospital," I groaned.
The nurse shook her head, and I sighed in relief. My mom would kill me if I was at the hospital the same day a random cut appeared on my face.
She put one last bandage around my arm and patted it.
"Just be careful, okay?" she said.
I nodded reassuringly. She motioned for me to get out, so I gathered up my stuff and went on my way.
Thank goodness my cut wasn't that deep, I could still put my book bag on without it hurting me, it just occasionally throbbed, that's all. If anyone, and i mean anyone, bumped into my shoulder, they were going down. My hand slid into my pocket where I clutched the pocket knife protectively.
I wandered in the hallway, not really wanting to go into class. Gosh, I didn't even know what class I was supposed to be in right now.
Typical me.
I scanned the hallway for a clock, but there were no clocks on any of the walls.
So now they only kept clocks in the classrooms? Gah. I needed to buy a watch.
I sighed and slumped down right as the intercom came on.
"Attention students and staff, remain calm, there has been killings in nearby areas, we will be dismissing five minutes early."
I raised my eyebrow. Hmm. Eh. They could kill me if they wanted to.
I heard screams coming from the other classrooms. What wusses.
They dismissed ninth grade, and they all just stared at me.
"Keep walking." I said.
They glared at me, but they kept walking.
They dismissed tenth grade, then eleventh, and finally twelfth grade.
I was feeling lazy today, so I didn't get up until the hallways were clear and the vice principal exclaimed:
"WHAY ARH YAH STILL IN HARE?!"
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
"DON'T GET DAT ATTITUDE WIT MEH MISSEH!" she screamed.
I glared at the ground and picked up my stuff, shuffling towards the bus lot.
I balled up my fist and punched the nearest brick wall.Pain shot through my arm and I could care less because I don't really care right now. I re positioned my stuff on my back and blinked a few times as the light poured onto me.
I trudged to my bus and someone grabbed my left wrist, which was my bad shoulder. I snarled and snatched my pocket knife from my pocket and clicked it open and sliced the inturder's wrist.
Hearing laughter, I looked up, startled.
There, to my worst sight, was Jeff, laughing hysterically.
"Amber," he said between laughs, "You get caught with that, your screwed." he said smirking. I groaned as I recalled the words I said to him earlier on the bus.
I raised my eyebrow at him. When he continued laughing, I glanced around to see if anyone was noticing this hysterical laughter. But to my surprise, no one was paying attention, they swerved around him. It was as if I was the only one who could see him, or hear him.
"Uhm...who's Ben?" I asked.
He glanced up, but didn't say anything.
"Who's Jack?!" I demanded.
He stopped laughing and glared at me.
"You do sure know how to poop all up on a party." he said.
I winked, "That's what I do best."
He brightened a little on that comment, but snapped his head to the left a little and stared.
Okay...?
I turned to see what he was staring at, but found nothing. Okay, cool, he's seeing things. Nothing unusual. I turned to see Jeff gone.
Gone.
Disappeared. Again. I sighed, and made my ways towards the bus once again.
I plopped down into the seat Jeff was this morning, hoping he would come back.
Wait-what?
Did I really want Jeff back?
Did I want the guy who somehow cut my cheek in the middle of the night, and sliced my shoulder a couple of hours ago, beside me? Again?
Didn't think so.
I didn't feel the seat go down to indicate anyone was beside me once the bus started to move, and I glanced out the window. I swiveled my head around after five minutes when someone cleared his throat.
I nearly jumped five feet in the air and almost screamed. There was Jeff. In the seat. Beside me. How did he get there?! He wasn't there when-agh. Never mind.
"Jesus Christ Jeff!" I gasped.
He chuckled darkly.
"So...are you going to answer my questions now?" I asked.
"What questions?" he replied blankly.
"Don't act stupid. You know, the ones I asked you before you randomly disappeared." I said.
"Mph. Fine. Jack is my friend. And so is Ben. There." he said, smirking.
I sighed and buried into my seat. There was no way I was getting any answers from him. I was silent for the rest of the bus ride until my stop. I got off reluctantly, even though I wasn't sure why.
I didn't bother to turn around to see if Jeff was there or not. I just wanted to get home.
I heard a muffled scream, and turned around quickly. People were cowering down there seats and I saw a flash of purple...something. But as soon as I saw it, everything was back to normal. I blinked and continued my way down the road.
I could have sworn I saw a tree wither up and die.
What the hell?!
Was I going insane?
