Chapter 22

Laughing Jack's P.O.V

"Hey!" a voice said.

I spun around. "Yes?"

A scrawny teenager was standing before me, holding an apple.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Uh...Laugh-uh, my name's Jack." I said, looking down on him. He was about fifteen years old, the perfect target range for my killings.

"My name is Collin. I like you." he said, merrily, coming closer.

I froze. He actually liked...me? Out of all people? Why was that? Maybe it was because I actually cleaned myself up after I saw Amber a couple of hours ago. I had scrubbed at my face, where most of the black on my monochrome face came off. I even took scissors and a brush to my hair, making it appear more fabulous.

"Hey, Collin. Do you...really like me?" I asked the small child.

He nodded. "I like your clothes and your hair."

"Your hair isn't that bad yourself..." I said, ruffling his hair.

He laughed, running his fingers through his chestnut hair. It reminded me of Eyeless Jack's hair. "Thanks. How old are you?" he asked.

Shit. What do I tell him? "Uh, 19." I said, smirking.

"Cool. I'm 17." he said. That was a year younger than Amber's age, hey, maybe I can introduce the two of them!

"Uh, cool. Hey, uh, do you have a girlfriend?" I asked.

He blushed suddenly, "No.."

"Okay, well where do you live?" I asked, trying not to laugh at his blush.

His smile and blush faded instantly. "I, uh, don't...live...anywhere, specifically..." he said.

"Oh." I said, frowning. "Well, you can come live with me...I was, today, in fact, looking for a house today."

"Really?" he asked, lightning up.

"Yupp! Here, have some candy." I said, offering him some non-toxic lollipops.

"Thanks man. So, where to?" he asked, popping a lollipop in his mouth.

"Well, are you okay with an abandoned house? Might need some maintenance."  I said.

"Awesome!" he said, grinning.

I liked this kid a lot. Would he still like me if he knew the truth about me?

"Alright, let's get going!" I said, walking the way I was going before Collin interrupted me, the woods.

We walked in the woods, inconspicuously, inwardly laughing because I really just displayed all of the characteristics of a pedophile.

~~~
"She sounds cute." Collin mumbled, munching on his apple. I couldn't see his face because he pushed his hair in his face.
I inwardly laughed. I think that they would make a cute couple, Amber and Collin.
Collin was a pretty outgoing guy. We talked more once we got in the woods, and I told him about Amber, and how she helped me through "emotional support". I was not ready to tell him who I was yet. He was pretty interesting too, he ran away from home because his parents were never home and didn't notice him anyways, they were too stuck up to really care about him.
"But why would they ignore you?" I asked.
"I dunno. Both of my parents work for the same company, and the people at the company are very judge mental, they don't really like kids, especially drop-outs from high school, which totally fits my category. I just dropped out of school. So ever since they joined the company, they started to ignor me and notice me less and less. I got sick and tired of it, and one day I asked them about it. They told me that I was a failure because I didin't get good grades and I wouldn't grow up to have a meaning in life. They were embarrassed to have me as a kid, what kind of parent is that?" he wailed.
I patted his back, and he flipped his hair, revealing his red and blotchy face and it looked like he had been crying.
"Hey, man, don't cry! My history is worse than yours..." I mumbled.
He sniffled, taking another bite of his apple. "What's your story?" he asked.
"I, uh, used to kill people, out of emotional pain, I guess. I used to look horrific, Amber," he blushed at her name "helped me through it though. I actually brought her into my 'family', as you guys would call it." I said.
He gave me a questioned look.
"Have you ever heard of Creepypasta?" I asked.
He nodded his head enthusiastically. "Those guys have some crazy stories, though, whoever wrote them." he laughed.
"Yeah, well, we're, uh, real." I said.
"What? They're...real?" he asked.
I nodded. "I'm--well, was--Laughing Jack. But I got really tired of killing and it just wasn't satisfying and I wanted some friends. Then I found Amber in the woods and she convinced me to stop killing."
Collin's eyes widened. "Eh, I don't care anymore, you can kill me, it's probably just a disguise. I thought I actually had a friend, too." he said.
"No, no! Collin, I'm serious!" I said. I yanked on my hair, "See! It's real!" I held up my nails, "No fangs, either." I said.
He eyed me with suspicion. Well, even if you do kill me, I won't care." he said, tossing his apple into a nearby bush.
"Hey, look!" he said, before I had a chance to say something else.
There was an old, white fence sticking up out of the ground, surrounded by vegetation.
"This is the house." I grinned.
