Chapter 17

Amber P.O.V

***A/N In celebration of 1,000 reads, I changed the description. Hopefully it will make a little more sense! Hope you guys enjoy.***

I wandered, jogging at this rate.

It didn't matter anyways. Where the hell was I?

I don't remember any of the directions.

Courtesy of L.J. Thanks man, seriously.

Everything looked exactly the same.

A tree there. Ooh, look, another tree! Joy.

I wandered aimlessly through the fricken woods until it got completely black and I stumbled on a root, or something every few steps.

"Fuck this shit." I mumbled, feeling with my hands for the nearest tree trunk. There was none there.

What the hell?

I was surrounded by trees, you can't tell me there is like no trees out here now?

Something grabbed me by the ankle and tripped me. Probably just a tree root. My head made contact with a hard surface.

Stupid fucking tree roots. I started jumping around, searching for a nearby branch to crawl up.

My hand landed on one, surprisingly, and it took a lot of strength to haul myself up there.

Start eating less, fatass. I thought.

I stuck my hand out to reach for another unseen branch, but my hand made contact with what felt like a spider web.

Gross.

"UGH!" I whisper-shouted.

I climbed as quick as possible it is for a nonathletic teenage girl to in the middle of the night up an apparently tall ass tree.

I climbed one last branch and settled against where the branch connected to the tree.

I closed my eyes, breathing in the still night air.

When I opened them again, I saw a small light. What was that?

I climbed back down the tree, and stumbled towards the small light, that was now becoming more visible.

A giant log cabin fit itself into this cozy little forest.

I knocked upon the door loudly, and I heard a few leaves rustle.

I swallowed, knocking louder.

The sounds were coming closer, a rustling and a deep panting.

I swore I felt something breathing down the back of my neck.

The door swung open and there stood a very old lady.

She gasped when she saw me.

"Oh, dearie, come inside, come inside." she said, beckoning with her hand.

I walked in the cabin, and warmth enveloped me, making me drowsy.

"Are you tired, girl? Would you like something to eat?" she asked.

I nodded to both questions.

She came back with a blanket for me, a tray of cookies, and a glass of milk.

"Here you go, make yourself comfortable."

I hadn't taken a good look around yet, but there was something about the house that was very comforting.

She seemed like a pretty nice lady. She welcomed me in, she doesn't look like a crazy serial killer like some of the people I know.

I took a cookie hesitantly, and the lady nodded, as if telling me to eat it. I nibbled on it, and soon I was engulfing myself in the warm, chocolatey cookies.

As I sipped from my milk, she asked me,

"What it your name?"

I took another sip, "Amber."

Her eyes widened.

"Turn around." she ordered.

I did as she said, and she took my tattered shirt and looked at my back. I turned to look at her. Her lips were quivering.

"I never thought I would see you again, Natalie." she whispered.
