Chapter 23
Laughing Jack P.O.V
*****CAUTION: DIRTY THOUGHTS/WORDS.******
Collin and I hopped the white, rotting fence before continuing towards the rickety house before us.
"Needs some work...but I like it..." Collin piped up from behind me.
"Yeah...definitely." I said, "C'mon, let's go check it out."
I noticed the pale dark grey house was originally white, but someone had tried to lazily paint it over with dark grey paint. 'Nice paint job,' I thought. The house was mostly covered with weeds and other bushes, and vines had wedged their way into the rocks that embedded the house.
As we stepped up the three steps that lead to the door, I noticed the sun was starting to reach it's highest point, so it is almost noon. Sighing, I surveyed the porch.
What were the odds of us, out of all people, stumbling upon an abandoned mansion?
It was a nice, open space, it even had a porch swing, that needed to be replaced, of course. I pushed open the door slowly, and creakily, it slowly swung ajar. Collin tried to rush ahead and run into the house, but I held out an arm to stop him.
"What happens if a board falls, or something like that?" I asked him.
He nodded, but that crazy excitement shone bright in his eyes.
I cautiously peered around the space.
It was a fixer-upper, but it didn't need a full Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on it.
"Wow." Collin gasped.
I looked back at him, and he pointed ot something, it was covered in dust and looked like a big table.
He mumbled something like: "Holy shit, a Grand Piano!"
He dashed over to it, and opened it up, sitting on the small stool that was in front of it.
A melodic sound erupted from it as Collin moved his fingers across the black and white keys of the ancient instrument.
"It's in good condition, too." he whispered, aghast.
He continued playing, and I wandered around the house.
There was lots of windows, I would have to buy a crap ton of curtains to cover all of the windows up. After surveying the rest of the house, I found out that there was actually five bedrooms and a three bathrooms. Everything needed to be fixed, electricity needed to be turned on, so did the water and internet, but it would be a while before that happened.
I wandered upstairs, and found that you could climb out of the window onto a tree that led to the ground without busting your face. Entering another random room, I discovered a covered mini-patio. Maybe we can move the piano from the middle of the room to out here.
The mesmerizing sound of the Grand Piano stopped, and I could hear Collin walking around downstairs.
"Jack? Jack? What's it like?" He called.
"It's great! What do you think? Nice playing, by the way." I answered.
I went downstairs and he grinned at me, "Thanks, and yeah, this house is pretty cool." he says.
"Wanna start working on it?" I ask.
He nods enthusiastically. "What color is the house going to be? Can we leave the trees and bushes there? Is their a garage? Can we move the piano?" he blurts out.
