Chapter 21
Amber P.O.V
I was awoken by a voice yelling, "AMBER!"
I jumped in my bed, startled.
Who was in my house, yelling my name?
I dug into my pocket, looking for my knife.
Where was it? I checked both of my pockets. They were empty.
"AMBER!" It called again, it scared me to death. I yanked the sheets and covers off of my bed, looking for it.
Where the hell was it?
Something glinted a little. There it was! I snatched it up, clicking it out, and snuck around my door to the stairs.
I heard footsteps approaching the stairs. Creeping around my door, I flattened myself against the wall and peered around it, I couldn't see anyways because my vision is blurry from the sleep and sudden startlement.
Two figures blurred towards the end of the staircase. Gripping the knife tighter, I lunged down the stairs, taking them five at a time.
A high pitched, shrill scream erupted from one of the figure's mouth as they became clearer. They were a couple, a little bit older than their mid-20's.
After that, I could not hear or see anything.
Red clouded my vision, and a new, richer feeling erupted in my stomach. It was sick, but there was a slight nagging for me to move my arms, to bring the knife around and put it to work.
The nagging grew over the few seconds it took me to land, so much that it caused me a headache that was not absorbed by the red that was preventing me from seeing.
My arm with the knife swung around and dug into someone's flesh with a satisfying rip.
Somewhat, I glanced up at my attacker, and I instantly regretted it, because I was able to identify him.
My body froze suddenly, and my vision cleared.
"Amber..." he gurgled.
My body started to tremble, and my hand released the knife that was buried into my father's stomach.
My eyes started to water, and the headache came back, stronger this time.
"Ngh.."
I watched as my father tried to speak, but instead blood gurgled in his mouth and sprayed onto my face.
I didn't bother wiping it off. He held up nine fingers, then one finger.
911.
My hand went to my pocket as I felt for my phone.
I almost broke it from the pressure I was putting on it as I held it up to my ear.
"911 What's your emergency?" a man on the other line asked.
"I...just stabbed my dad. It-it was on accident...I didn't mean to, really!" I stammered, tears threatening to spill.
"Ma'am, calm down, why would you do that, never mind that, but what is your address?" he asked.
I gave him my address and he told me that the paramedics would be there in a couple of minutes.
"How do I get him to stop bleeding? What can I do to help?" I asked.
No reply.
"Sir! Sir?! What can I do to help him? He's dying...and I did it." I said, voice cracking. "I didn't mean to...I just...sir? Please tell me your there? He's going to die, and it's all my fault. All...my...fault." Tears leaked out of my eyes on to my cheeks.
I slammed the phone down on the counter and turned to my dad.
His eyes were slowly closing and he was on the ground, staring at me.
His eyes screamed, 'why?' and he was getting paler from blood loss.
"Dad! It's...okay. I-I'm going to h-help you. You'll g-get better! T-trust me." I stammered.
I tore some fabric from my shirt and pressed it around the wound, and I wasn't dumb enough to remove the knife yet.
That's when my mom snapped.
I felt a hand grab the back of my hair and jerk me up. I let out a cry as she thrust her hand across my face, in full force.
"HOW COULD YOU?" she screamed.
"W-what?"
"HOW COULD YOU JUST STAB HIM AND SAY SORRY?"
"M-mom it was a-an a-accident...I didn't m-mean to!"
"DON'T GIVE ME THAT BULLSHIT. ACCIDENT MY ASS, YOUR GOING TO PAY!"
"Woah, woah, woah." said a familiar voice.
My mother's eyes grew wide as she gazed behind me. I was unable to see who it was, but I think that I knew who it was.
"What are you doing to her?" it said, getting deeper.
"Y-your that murderer." my mom whispered. "Your the one...that lured Amber into the forest, aren't you? TELL ME...oh, no...I know what's going on. You lured her into your killing chamber, and-and you, uh, told her to kill us so you wouldn't have to do it. Well let me tell you something, your lazy as hell if your trying to get my daughter to kill for you." she laughed.
I smiled, but then she screamed, "WIPE THAT DAMN SMILE OFF OF YOUR FUCKING FACE!". I watched as her foot rose and kicked me in the face.
When was she that flexible? My face exploded in pain that covered up the pain from my headache. I felt a wet, tickling sensation crawl down my jaw.
I was unable to do anything, unable to un-see as my head whipped around by the force of her kick to saw a pissed off looking Jeff.
"Fucking touch her again and I will murder you."
She laughed, "Thought you had my daughter do that for you."
He growled, and started to run towards her, but stopped.
"Ah, shit." he muttered. Then he took a final glance at me, turned around, and jumped out the window, making sure not to touch it too much.
What? What's going on.
My mother stomped over to the front door, away from the window that Jeff jumped out of, and that's when I heard it.
The sirens.
They came loud, and they came bringing hope for me and my dad.
Slowly, I crawled towards the open window, as if a force was pulling me towards it, as if it was begging me to jump out of it, like there was no other choice but to jump out of the stupid window.
"HEY, BITCH, WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING?" the bitch said, noticing me.
Time to go. I scrambled up, wincing in pain, and took the chance to jump out of the window.
A nice holly bush greeted me and scratched at me as tore through it. I wanted to get away as fast as I can.
"FUCKING COWARDS!" she screamed. "I'M NOT DONE WITH YOU. COME BACK AND I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU!" she yelled into the setting-sun.
I trembled, stumbling and running faster into the woods that surrounded my house.
If only Laughing Jack would pop up right now.
Faster...and faster I ran, until my stomach hurt in more than five places, and I couldn't see anything at all from the setting sun.
I finally stumbled upon something that was large and firm. I didn't care what it was, but I crawled inside it and fell asleep, crying and wondering why my mother was so mad at me.
I knew she had a temper, but what did I do to deserve it?
