It felt weird, walking home from school with nothing but silence and the sound of my footsteps to accompany me. I stopped at the exact spot where everything happened yesterday, when my life suddenly took a dive for hell.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice that I wasn't alone.
"Knock, knock," Someone knocked their knuckles on my head, not too roughly, but not that gentle either. I looked up with my usual glare whenever Kieran was near. He looked at me innocently, "Thought no one's home."
Then he began walking ahead.
I gave him the middle finger even though he can't see me. I still feel a lot better whenever I do that with him.
Frankly though, glaring can be tiring. Being constantly irritated and angry was tiring. We shared most of the classes and somehow the teachers felt obligated to let him seat beside me. Two random people had come up to me to ask me what was wrong, if they did anything wrong to me. My constant evil look had made other people began thinking that I was actually glaring at them when in fact, I was only glaring because of a certain newcomer.
Also, many girls had come up to ask another question. The first time it happened was around the end of first period, and I remembered staring at her for a minute before I burst out laughing I thought I'm gonna die.
"Cece, is that your boyfriend? I mean, you wear matching clothes." The girl had said.
Her friend nodded eagerly and chimed in, "Plus, I saw you came in the school together."
After laughing and wiping tears from my eyes, I'd answered, "No, so fuck off."
As each girl came up to me, my mood had dropped considerably. Not to mention Kieran had found it all amusing and he didn't even bother trying to answer each one of them! He just simply looked at them and would say to come ask me instead.
I mean, what the heck? Was I his secretary or something?
I threw him another middle finger, smiling evilly. But this time, Kieran raised his hand to fix his hat, his middle finger sticking up in the air as he did so.
I hated him.
"You really hate him that much? It's only been day one." Quinn always manages to appear magically at random moments, like this. Both of us began walking home and Kieran's figure disappeared around the corner.
"He broke my iPod."
He laughed, "Okay, Cece. That's getting old really quick. I've heard that sentence so many times it's beginning to sound funny to my ears."
"Not to me," I huffed.
"Look, I'm sure he's a good guy. Just give him a chance."
"Fat chance of that happening, bro."
"That's why I'm here," It was Frankie who appeared next, and she walked on my other side. "I'm here to counteract the rude behavior of hers."
"Counteract my behavior meaning...?" I trailed off.
"Being nice to him," She grinned, mirth dancing in her blue eyes.
"Or getting into his pants," I muttered under my breathe, earning myself a chuckle from Quinn and he nodded in agreement.
"What was that?" Frankie asked me, all teasing gone.
"I said, you're so pretty, sis," I said sweetly.
She rolled her eyes, not believing my excuse. "If you didn't look so much like my favorite Disney princess, I would have shaved your hair a long time ago, Cece."
