Chapter 3

Then all hell broke loose...

As we walked out of the pack house chaos surrounded us. I heard women screaming in hysteria. Four rouge wolves circled around three children, growling and snapping at them. The children held on to each other whimpering in fear. Automatically I felt my nails grow and my teeth elongate as anger hummed throughout my body. Even though I wouldn't be able to shift until tomorrow at midnight, I could still fight. I started forward but a hand on my shoulder stopped me. I looked up into Sam's face and cringed .His face was contorted in fury and from the fearsome expression on his face, if these rouges were not afraid they should be. I tried to walk forward again and a ferocious growl tore it's way out of his throat. Ok...I take it back , all of hell should be afraid...very afraid.

Sam's grip tightened painfully on my shoulder, "Stay here."

I frowned and shook my head vehemently,"No, not even. I'm going to help weather you like it or not."

Sam's muscles bunched tightly and his eyes turned pitch black," you'll do as I say. My orders, young one are to be obeyed." Sam let go of me and ran into the mist of the rouges, shifting mid-stride. He knocked the rouges aside to stand in front of the children. Sam stood tall and let out a growl that would scare Satan himself. The rouges circled around them closing the circle tighter.

Anger burned through me. How dare they come here? How dare they threaten us? This is OUR land. Rouges took my family away but that will NEVER happen again. One of the rouges launched himself at Sam landing on top of him tearing into his back.

An animalistic growl tore its way out of my throat and before I knew it I was running toward them. As I got close I sent round house kick to my right and hearing a yelp of pain, I grin. Then I look toward the kids quickly devising a plan to get them to safety. Sam and the rouge were snapping their jaws at each other trying to gain dominance.

I made a wide arc around them until I see the kids huddled together trembling in fear. I kneel down and talk quickly,"Ok, guys we need to make a quick getaway into the house. Trust me?"

All the kids nodded and a fierce determination entered their eyes. I grinned and winked at them. They were going to make great wolves one day.I glanced behind me to see in grim satisfaction that Sam had taken care of two of the rouges. I quickly turn back to the kids ,"ok, one of you get on my back."

A little girl around the age of six jumped on my back and wrapped her arms in a choke hold around my neck. Then she locked her legs around my waist. I held my arms out for the other two. A boy and a girl around the age of three climbed into my arms and held on to me tightly. I looked between them and noticed they were twins. Hmm go figure!!

"okay, everyone hold on tight and do not under any circumstances let go of me until you are inside the house."I don't wait for a response and jet to the house.

Suddenly a high pithed scream echoed in my ears. I winced and turned my head to look at the little girl on my back and let me tell you her mouth was wide open and she was letting it rip. Sheesh!!This kid was really unattractive when she did that. I turn a little and look behind me to see a rouge wolf gaining on me and fast. I push myself forward and yank open the door and quickly set the kids inside ."Stay here."I rushed back outside slamming the door behind me.

I crouch into a fighting stanch and snarled at the rouge in front of me. He growled low in his chest and his eyes turned blood red.

I bare my teeth at him, "So, you're afraid to face me in your human form??tsk tsk...it seems to me that maybe your afraid." I tilt my head and grin, "Coward."

I know taunting him isn't the best thing to do but I really don't have a choice here. If I were to face him in his wolf form he would kill me. Plus, the odds aren't that good that'll win anyway. I need to work every advantage.
