"Yoongi, why haven't you left your house in three days? You need to come out!" Sang demanded, barging straight past Namjoon who was lingering in the doorway, sending him backwards a few steps. He very nearly went stumbling down the stairs.
"Go away, dad. I'm fine." Yoongi muttered, running a hand through his hair and picking up the first piece of fruit that came into his field of view, which happened to be an apple.
"You might look fine, but I know you're not fine, hyung..." A strangled and upset voice spoke from the doorway, and Jungkook stood in all his glory, his face painted red and chest heaving. Yoongi was sure that he heard his heart completely snap in two at the sight of Jungkook this way, and he reached out desperately for the boy to walk towards him. It wasn't long before he was cradling a crying Jungkook in his arms, rocking them in a wild attempt to calm him down.
"Look at what you're doing, Yoongi," Sang muttered from behind him, frowning at the pair of crying cousins. "You're breaking our hearts hiding away like this. Come out and let us help."
Yoongi hadn't intended for people to be hurt while he locked himself away. His feelings were delicate and he knew that, his emotions were like flower petals and could easily be trampled on and ripped at any given second. He didn't want to wither completely, so he had removed himself and protected himself in his own little greenhouse.
"I'm just trying to protect myself, Jungkookie. I wasn't trying to avoid you, I promise," Yoongi ignored his father for the time being, stroking his hair gently and speaking into his ear quietly, keeping their conversation a secret. "It's okay, I'm okay."
"Do you promise? Promise me you're okay." Jungkook had Yoongi's shirt in his balled up fists, pulling at it gently with a dissatisfied pout on his face.
"I-I can't do that. I wish I could, but I can't. I can promise I'm taking care of myself, because I am." He now spoke to everybody around him, gently prying his cousin off of him and sitting him down on his couch, which had crisp packets and cans all over the cushions.
"You dyed your hair." Namjoon picked up a strand of pink hair on Yoongi's head, letting it fall back against his forehead.
"I did it yesterday, actually. My oriental lilies inspired me." Yoongi raised his hand to point at one of the many vases he owned, almost scoffing at the abundance.
"They're living pretty well, these fellas are. I should probably add in this one." Namjoon slid the yellow iris from the encounter with Hoseok into the vase of lilies, smiling as it stood out against the rest of the pink flowers.
"Did Hoseok really buy that for me?" Yoongi spoke to Namjoon privately as his father tried to get through to Jungkook, who was receiving a lecture for skipping school.
"Yeah, he came in for some reason, he didn't say why, but he bought a bouquet of white ones and a single yellow one. He said the yellow was his favourite, he didn't say it to me, but he did say it."
"What's that supposed to mean, Namjoon-ah? If the yellow was his favourite, why am I the one getting it?" Yoongi ran a delicate but slightly shaking hand over a petal, his mind racing at a million miles an hour. It went through good and bad scenarios and ideas, but could never park anywhere.
"I dunno, hyung. Maybe it's a sign that he likes you? Yes, yes, don't give me that look. He obviously didn't come to see me or Sang, though." Namjoon laughed at the unimpressed glare he was receiving, shoving his shoulder playfully.
"He bought that bouquet for Youngjae, though. He's obviously still with him, so he's happy. I won't interrupt that." Yoongi crossed his arms and turned around to face his family, leaning his butt against the table to keep himself balanced.
"Don't interrupt it, if they're happy then they're happy, but there's something there, Yoongi. He preferred the yellow flowers, and he gave them to you. That can't mean nothing."
ㅡ
Yoongi finally returned to work the next day. It was a Saturday, and business was beginning to bloom. The sun was out for longer and people were finding new lives, visiting graves and finding a fascination in the bright colours that finally matched the weather.
April wasn't normally this pretty, but this year it seemed to be. People were breaking out their brightly coloured clothes, brushing the dust off of them and wearing them with pride. The bright colours made Yoongi feel brighter.
Jungkook had finally reached his easter break, and he was absolutely willing to drop into the store every single day to visit his favourite cousin, favourite uncle and favourite non-related hyung.
Namjoon had taken his easter exam and had received an excellent mark, and rewarded himself by playing ten hours of animal crossing in a week. His course was fascinating him, but his villagers were missing him.
Sang and Yoongi were becoming a lot closer. Umji and Yoongi were becoming closer, being step-siblings and all, and she was actually quite fascinating. She had opened up about horrid things people spoke of her, and Yoongi had invited her to visit the flower store every once in a while. It wasn't abnormal to see her wander in and out.
As for Yoongi? His crush for Hoseok was still there, it was a forest fire that grew and expanded, and burned away at everything in his mind. They had finally stopped being awkward, texting each other from time to time and occasionally Hoseok would visit to buy a bouquet of flowers.
Whenever he would visit, he would always leave a stray flower for Yoongi.
The easter holidays were very, very interesting to the pair. Here is how.
