"Come with me!" Casey urges me to go with her. "Maybe you can get a job! This is how you can turn your entire life around. You can finally get off the streets." Casey is ecstatic that Liz is willing to reel her in for a interview.
"Oh no, she wants you, not me. Not this old thing." Casey has no clue the history that Liz and I share, she has no damn clue.
"But Noah! What is your issue? This could finally lead you to be taken off of the streets!" Casey argues. I roll my eyes. The poor girl has no idea what has happened between us two, she doesn't even know we know each other.
"Maybe I don't want to get off the streets," I lie. "I like it here," I sure as hell don't. "Now take the help I've given you and stop complaining!" Even though I hurt so much, I haven't even spoken to Liz in two years, let alone seen her. I just can't, she will never forgive me, and things will never be the same.
"Jeez, okay. I'm sorry for trying to be kind. I thought it would help you." Casey says as her upper lip quivers. It kills me internally to know I have hurt this young woman's feelings. All she ever wanted was to help, and I just ruined all of her efforts in one sinmple sentence.
"I'm sorry, but it is time for you shine! Go in and rock this interview, Sherlock." I wink at her, I think I'm catching on to her fictional references. "You remember all of the things to say, right? If you follow what I say, I can almost guarantee you this job. I know how to please her...believe me. So follow what I say and you should do just fine. I believe in you, kiddo." I smile, and give her a great big hug. Casey returns the hug too.
We stand there for a moment and it feels like eternal silence, but I'm okay with that, I feel like this could be a beautiful moment that they will look back at in the future and remember how it was so memorable due to its undeniable beauty.
"Alrighty, go get your job, sport. No more terrible bosses and cramped diner for you!" I shout at her with a varying degree of happiness.
"Okay, thanks!" Casey exclaims. Her leg bounces up and down nervously.
Casey then snaps out of her stupor and marches over to the tiny tonw-house that Liz now resides in. I hide in the bush a few town-houses away, so I can see everything from a safe distance, but so Liz doesn't see me and get pissed all over again.
Liz's blonde hair is frizzy and everywhere. The door swings open and her heart-shaped face is there string at Casey trying to get a first impression.
Casey then steps in and the door closes shut. I can't help but tear up as I see my last glimpse of Liz.
I just miss her so much. I just want to hold her in my arms one more time, feel her lips once more, and I just want her to love me again.
It feels like ages and ages. I nearly get up and leave. I stand out there in the freezing cold, shivering - waiting for Casey to exit her job interview.
Then, she exits the house with a mediocre look on her face. She looks incredibly sad.
"How'd it go?" I ask. My voice had an increasing amount of anticipation in it.
"I just feel bad." Casey replies.
"Aw, why is that?" I shoot back.
"Because the revenge we will be extracting on my old boss will be like hell for him." Casey's lips curl up into a malicious smile.
"Oh my God. You got in?!" I shout, extremely excited.
Casey jumps up and down and gives me a great big warm hug, "Yes, Noah. Liz hired me. I'm free."
