Last Thursday

I'm in my second period, Science. Listening to Mr. Hudson talk about Epithelial cells when my name gets called through the school's speakerphone. - Miss Skys, to my office now.- Says the Headteacher. I stand up, grab my bag and everyone is looking and whispering asking themselves the same question that I'm asking myself. Why is she calling me at her office? I pass Hannah's desk and smile at her and then walk out the door and close it. I walk past all of the classes when I finally arrive at the headmaster's office. I knock on the door and she says.

"Emma, please do come in." When I hear her soft voice I now know that I'm not in trouble, so I open the door and see the last person I would expect in the there.

" Mrs. Gilbert, you wanted to see me."  and then Jennifer gets up and walks past me. I take a seat, drop my bag on the floor and cross my legs.

"Yes, it has come to my ears, some rumors about you. And I need to know if they are true or false accusations." She communicants to me and continues speaking because I don't have a clue on what she's going on about.

"Is it true, at the age of 14 your dad raped you when he was drunk?" When the words come out of her mouth I'm paralyzed. It feels like the whole world has fallen on me. I can't manage to open my mouth and pronounce words to answer, I just want it to be a nightmare and open my eyes and that nothing had happened. I rest my head on my hand and close my eyes. Mrs. Gilbert comes around and sits on the chair beside me and places one hand on my knee and says.

" Emma, honey. Is it true?" I look up at her and nod and then she bites her bottom lip.

" It's really hard to talk about it, he doesn't remember everything because he was drunk, but I do and it is horrible just thinking about it." She hands me a tissue so I can wipe my tears and that's what I do. I can see how she is looking at me and feeling sympathy for me, but to make things clear she doesn't have a fucking clue of the pain I'm feeling right now.

"This was two years ago, why didn't you tell me"?  It suddenly clicks to me, How the hell does she know about this? The only two people in the whole school that know about this is Hannah and Meghan, but they wouldn't do something like that to me.

"Who told you about this?" I ask looking straight into her eyes. She glares to the window and gets up and says.

"I'm not supposed to tell you that, but if you have to know it was Jennifer Collins." How did Jennifer find out about this? If she knows that means that the whole school knows by now.

"Oh my god, the whole school will know by now," I scream and start to cry again, I grab my bag and walk to the door. Before I can close it Mrs. Gilbert stands up and says.

"Emma, don't you worry I will handle this." And with that, I close the door and walk back into the hallways.

The bell rings, so that means second period is over.  I rush back to the science class to talk to Hannah. People start making their way to their third period. When I finally arrive, there are some people still in the classroom, but I don't care. I walk over to Hannah's desk and say.

"How could you do this to me? We are supposed to be best friends." I say shouting and I feel faces turn around and look. I turn around to look at them and say.

"What are you looking at? Do you want to take a picture?" And then they just leave. Hannah looks up and says.

"Em, what are you talking about?" "Don't act stupid, you told Jennifer about my dad and the incident." She swallows slowly and stands up and places her hand on my shoulder, but I dug it.
