Emma
We drop Hunter off at the hotel so he can leave the suitcases and he said that he will get a cab to drive him to his cousin's house. Dan and I decided to go for a coffee and then I'll finally be able to tell him what's on my mind. We enter this mini parking lot to leave the car and walk over to the coffee shop that's in the centre of the city. He swings his arm on top of my shoulder bringing me closer to his chest and then I feel home sweet home again, next to my brother has always made me feel safe and loved. That's the point of having a brother. We walk under the hot sun. I've only been here twice and I quite like it here. And I do understand why Daniel and Ella live here besides Ella growing up here. It's amazing and very cosy. It's all very modern and people just keep to their own business and keep trotting on. We finally arrive at this sweet coffee shop, I would have loved to sit on the nice wooden deck but all the tables are filled with clients chatting away. We step inside and Dan takes his sunglasses and leaves them resting on the top of his head. We come across with a nice booth at the far end corner in front of the glass windows. The waitress comes over with a notepad and pulls the pen from behind of her ear. Her hair tied up in a tight bun resting on her head.
"Good morning dears, what would you like today?" I look over to Dan and he orders first.
"I'll have an iced tea and some waffles with applesauce!" A little grin shows on my face, how could I forget, applesauce, his favourite. But I detest it. I look at the girl sitting across our booth and she's eating some sort of a pancake filled with strawberries.
"I'll have a cappuccino and what she's having," I say tilting my head in that direction. She looks over her shoulder and nods her head and walks off.
"So, what made you come up this week end apart from seeing me? What's on your mind?" He inquiries placing his arms on the wooden table. I can't find the right work how explaining everything about being related to Jennifer.
"Did you know that Jennifer and I are half sisters." Talking slowly to see his reaction is heartbreaking, his face is full of emotions.
"What do you mean?" He jumps in shock. I start to tell him everything that our mum told me in detail. He stretches his arm across the table and grabs mine. Our eyes locked together, his are all watery when he finally opens his mouth to try and speak he looks down and then the teardrops. I have only seen my brother cry two or three times and seeing him like this makes my heart drop to the floor and melt.
"You are my little sister no matter what biology says, end off." He stands up and walks over to my side, I get up and we hug, it's one of those long ones that make up forget everything and makes you feel safe again. Then the waitress comes with our order. We break the hug and I wipe Dan's checks wiping the tears. He sits down again and the young waitress gives me a sympathetic smile sending me empathy and then winks and walks away.
