Hunter
I'm at Emma's house as her mum and Craig had gone out for the weekend to the lakes. We are just watching a movie. This month hasn't been very good for me, just seeing Christina there wasn't helping me in whatsoever. Emma, of course, didn't know anything about this but the voice in my head said, tell her. But when I talked to Dean about it he told me that she was never going to find out about it if it weren't from him or me. He is right but it's hard to hide something that was really important from my past from her.
"What do you think of Christina?" I say trying to bring up the conversation and see if I have the courage to tell her the truth as she deserves it more than anything. She takes her eyes off the screen and looks over at me with a big grin on her face.
"Yeah, she's awesome. I've spoken to her a few times." She says looking back at the screen as the movie continues to play. We are watching this crappy movie that she chose on Netflix. It was her turn to choose but for heaven sake, I've never seen a film this bad. It was about a girl lost in the sea surrounded by animals and some shit. It surprises me she says they have spoken a few times, I'm curious to know what in specific so I don't hesitate but ask.
"What did you two talk about?" not turning her eyes away from the screen at this point she adds,
"Why do you care? She just asked me about girls in this school and if I were into the boys. Of course, I told her I was dating the sexiest guy of this school." I look at the floor when those words come out of her mouth.
"We need to talk." She suddenly turns around grabbing the remote control and pauses the shity movie. She doesn't say anything but nods without asking any questions. I can read her face and I can tell she is worried. Taking a deep breath in to get ready to take consequences of my actions. She is still giving me a tiny grin as she waits fidgeting her fingers. I don't have the heart to explain her everything. I don't know where to start and seeing her so nervous makes me want to hold her tight in my arms and never let go.
"I have never told you about my past and I think it's time." As I take her pause her eyebrows raise in surprise as I guess she wasn't expecting this conversation any time soon. She folds her legs on the sofa as she fully turns to face me.
"My birth name is Taylor Lockwood and I'm 22 years old. Dean and I had to leave everything behind due to entering a witness protection program. We had to go back to high school and move away leaving everything behind. Christina and I were dating back then and we broke up when I had to move away." She looks confused by the amount of information I was giving her at once. I would imagine if someone came out like this to me I would be gobsmacked. Her face just keeps changing of expressions, she looks pretty sad and just knowing that the worse was still yet to come, killed me so I decided to get over it fast.
"I saw Christina on new year's eve at that party back home and when the fireworks began we kissed for about two seconds. I'm so so sorry. I regret doing it and I told her I had moved on and I'm in a relationship. I had to tell you because it was killing me not telling you. I'm sorry." Tears began to run down her cheek as she sat there quietly. I want to know the exact things that are passing through her mind at this very moment but her silence is powerful and hurtful. I wipe her tears from her face as she shifts to the side. I knew this was going to happen but I had to tell her the truth. I hated myself for making her feel this way and seeing her sad face made me want to punch the shit out of something. I can't control her sadness but it was my fault she was feeling like this and now her tears are more rapidly coming out like rain from the sky.
"Em, please say something. Yell at me. Shout at me. Hit me. But tell me how you feel." She slowly swallows as her lips tremble in anger. I understand her anger because if I were in her situation I would have already walked out of the door minutes ago.
"What do you want me to say? I'm your girlfriend and didn't even know this of witness protection program and you're saying that your ex girlfriend is our teacher and that you're the same age as her. I had no fucking clue about all of this. And we have been together now for five months and it seems like I don't even know you! How do you think I feel? I never pushed you to talk about your past but coming out like this and telling me you cheated on me isn't the way I wanted it to go down. This has to end here! All the lies and secrets have killed our relation" She is right, she had never rushed me to talk about it and I totally appreciate it but I feel the anger inside of her. When I hear the last words they echo in my head for a few seconds while I totally process them.
"What has to end here?" I ask grabbing her hand, she rapidly moves her hand as mine was placed on top of hers.
"This all the lying! We need a break. Just leave." Wait, what? I thought she would be more understanding. A break? Why? I knew it was a mistake and it wasn't like it was going to happen again. I love Emma and that's all. Of course, Christina has been a big part of my life but that's the past and I need Emma to see that she is my only present.
"I don't want a break!" I exclaim as she walks over to the door. She swings it open pointing for me to leave.
"I am going to think about myself for once." I had to respect her decision even though I didn't approve of it. I didn't think everything was going to go back to normal in a day but I never imagined her asking from a break from me. That's the way I get paid for telling the truth. I walk up to the door as I stop in front of her and add,
"This is a mistake it was all a mistake. Em please don't do this" and with that, she slams the door behind me. I exhale deeply as I was pissed at myself from having to kiss Christina in the first place. I am no going to leave this end like this with us. I know she is mad at me for everything not just about Christina but everything about my past she doesn't know it and having come out like this wasn't the best idea.
