It was around mid day and you were taking a small stroll around the corridors during lunch. You still didn't have any real friends despite it being almost a month since you have been at Hogwarts. You were trying to find something half by decent to do, but there was nothing. Everyone is just playing in the courtyard and attempting to act as if they were better at magic than others.

That's when you heard a familiar voice.

"It's got to be Snape!"

You heard the Griffindor speak.

"Harry we wont know for sure unless we talk to Hagrid." The girl spoke.

You felt wrong for listening behind a wall but the "golden trio" annoy the hell out of you.

You peak around the corner and see Harry having a little group discussion with his little friends. They paused their deep talk and stared out you.

"L/N! How much did you bloody hear?!" Next thing you know, Weasley was standing in front of you glaring with his wand pointed at your face. You weren't scared, more like found the situation humorous

"Back up, Weasley." You responded with a chuckle. "Don't pretend to act all tough when you cant even perform a simple spell in charms. You cant hex me."

"Try me." He responds. You simply raise your eyebrows and push his shoulders back, creating some distance.

"I would prefer if you'd just get out of my face."

"Why don't you hang out with Malfoy. You's seem like you'd become best friends." Potter sneers. But again, you just laugh at their efforts of being insulting.

"Malfoy is just as bad as you both." Suddenly the trio look behind me as their faces all lose color.

"Oh? Am I just as bad as these filthy mudbloods and traitors am I, Y/L?" His voice spits.

You turn around and come face to face with the bleached devil himself. Along with his two goons and Pansy.

"Can I help you, Malfoy?" You ask monotoned.

"You know, you shouldn't act so tough when you have no friends. And what's the point in being rude to me? I haven't done anything to you." He's smirking now, knowing he's backed you into a corner and you had no reason to talk badly about him.

You don't actually have a problem with Draco. He's just arrogant. You figure that you only said what you said because you don't want to be compared to him. He isn't the nicest but he has never done anything bad to you.

Not having anything to say, you turn your heel and carry on walking down the corridor.

"Wait, Y/L!" You heard Draco's voice trail after you, and soon hear foot steps following. You pick up your pace and turn a left into a different corridor but it doesn't take him long to catch up to you.

"What do you want?" You say as you keep walking, at a normal pace now but still a few feet in front of him.

"Well.. we haven't spoken since the day we came here." He announces.

"So?"

"So I was thinking we could catch up? I don't know what your problem is with me, but I don't have one with you." He mumbles.

You know that he has a point. The only reason you haven't spoken to Draco is because he never went out of his way to communicate with you. So you saw no hope.

"Sure." Your voice still monotone.

"Meet me at the lake tomorrow then?" He grins, like a boy on Christmas. Before you have a chance to answer, he's already turned around to walk back to his own group.

Your next class is potions so you thought you may as well make your way there, seeing as lunch has almost finished. You heard that Snape was making new pairs for the potion you are doing, and you hoped that you would be with someone decent.

You manage to make your way to the dungeons just in time and sit at a random seat at the back, next to a Ravenclaw that you don't know of.

Suddenly Professor Snape barged into the room with no patience and instantly started making small groups.

"Granger and Bones."

"Potter and Parkinson."

"Longbottom and Weasley."

"Malfoy and Y/L."

You mentally groaned and grabbed your gear, moving to sit next to Draco. Why cant you have stayed with the Ravenclaw boy?

"Hey." He says quietly, so not to get us in trouble.

"Hi."

He looks at you and offers a small smile, one that you hardly see in Draco. Feeling polite, you return it and turn back to read your text book.

"I hope you don't mind me asking.." He murmurs.

"Hmm?"

"Why don't you like Potter and his little gang?" He questions.

"Who does like them?" You reply bitterly. It's true, not many people happen to like Harry, Ron and Hermoine.

"You make a fair point." He chuckles.

"Let me ask you a question now." You state.

"Oh?"

"Why do you want to hang out with me tomorrow if you haven't spoken to me in a month?" You inquire while writing a few notes on your parchment.

You hear Draco sigh. Not a frustrated sigh, more like a tired sigh.

"I wanted to talk to you but you seemed so closed off from everyone that I wasn't sure whether you'd want me too or not." He confesses.

You blush, knowing that someone has been wanting to be your friend brings warmth to your body. You like being alone, but sometimes it's good to have someone there.

"Thank you, Draco." He gives you a genuine smile that instantly makes you smile back.

"First name base already?" He smirks. Your face turns hot out of embarrassment but he seems to notice no matter how much you try to hide it.

"I'm kidding, thank you, Y/N. I much rather when people call me by my name." He murmurs.

"I thought you liked it when people call you Malfoy?"

"I just want to be treated normally. And you make me feel normal. Everyone is too scared to use my first name." He stares down at his text book and sighs.

"You are normal Draco." Instantly his smile comes back at your words. You are just happy that he can be himself around you.
