Dear Y/N,

Happy 12th birthday. I hope you have a wonderful day and I can't wait to see you in 2 days. Here's a small present for my best friend. I could never thank you enough for entering my life. Tomorrow your finally coming to my place! It's about time.

Just a reminder that I really appreciate the Dance you let me have with you, it made my holidays a lot better.

I'll see you in Diagon Alley later.

- Draco Malfoy.

Next to his letter and Owl, there was a small package. Slowly tearing the paper as it's delicate, you find a small necklace with a snake emblem on it. Tears slowly form in your eyes as you softly kiss the snake before putting it on.

Grabbing your tools, you begin to write a response:

Dear Draco,

Thank you for this wonderful gift, you shouldn't have gotten me it though, it must have caused some trouble and time getting it for me, I am greatful either way, I love it.

I'm also very much excited about seeing you tomorrow, it feels like I haven't seen you in a long time, I'm beginning to miss our banters.

Thank you again. :)

- Love from, Y/N Y/L.

"Take this back to Draco." You hand the letter to the owl and give it a small pat, before it flies away in the distance.

You sigh, happy knowing that you have such an amazing friend. Walking to your closet, you pick out a simple outfit. (Black jeans and a sweater) And make your way down stairs.

"Happy birthday!" Your parents chant. You give them both warming smiles and thank them before making coco puff cereal.

"Oh hunny, we need to head to Diagon Alley to get your new supplies today." Your father says. "Also, here's your present, since you're allowed one now." He ruffles your hair before waking off, leaving you to unwrap the large gift.

Your eyes widen as you see the beautiful new broom for school.

"Y/N! Let's go!" Your mother calls.

You quickly place your bowl in the seat and grab your coat as the weather is chilly, and make your way to the fireplace.

Grabbing some of the dust, you throw it on the ground. The next thing you know, you are standing next to your parents in the busy street.

Wondering around Diagon Alley, you try and keep a look out for a bleach haired boy. Suddenly you hear a large commotion coming towards the book store, the next place you need to be at anyway.

Walking in, you can barely get past the door without being bombarded by other people, all lining up for something.

In the corner of your eye, you see a bright camera flash, so you turn only to find Harry Potter taking a photo with that doddering fool, LockHart.

"Famous Harry potter. Can't even walk into a book store without making the front page." You hear a voice that you have begun to know so well sneer beside you.

Harry glares, and an smaller unfamiliar red head next to him spoke up, whom you assumed was a Weasley by the resemblance.

"Leave him alone." she protects.

"Oh look Potter, you got yourself a girlfriend!" You pipe up.

You hear Draco snicker beside you until Lucius interrupts you all. Noticing he had a small leather book in his hand, you ask to look at it and he is hesitant to give it to you, but he obliges anyway.

Flipping through the pages, you find that it'll be a nice little book for you to have as a doodle book or a diary of some sort. It's a bit tacky, but that's what makes it valuable.

Draco and his father then walk away, and joins the fest of their family as he gets ready to head back to the manor, where you and your parents will be meeting them.

You don't mind going to the manor on your birthday as it gives you a chance to spend the day with your closest friend.

"You have an amazing room." You complement to Draco while taking a seat on his perfectly made bed.

"Mother and Father want everything to be modern and 'rich looking' since we are pureblood." He responds, putting his new school supplies in his trunk for tomorrow.

"I think it's nice."

"I'm assuming your room is all pink and stuff." He smirks. "How cute."

"Shut up! It's not." You laugh with no humor, since he is right. Your bedroom is rather girly, but that's the way you like it.

He chuckles and places the last book in his trunk then sits down next you you, leaning back and sighing.

"You tired?" You ask.

"It's been a long day." Draco responds, slowly closing his eyes.

"Draco, you're not 60." You giggle at how he's acting like a man that's up there in age with a sore back.

He lightly slaps your arm, pretending to be mad, but not succeeding when he has a smile on his face that he is clearly trying to hide.

"So what's going on with you and Pansy? Seems to be a bit of rivalry." He breaks the silence with a topic you don't want to talk about. It just reminds you of the dance from the night before.

"It seems like..she just doesn't like me." You say, making sure you don't say anything offensive, since Draco is friends with her.

"I think she sees you as more as a threat, Y/N." Draco says.

"She has no reason to feel that way. I'm nothing special." You respond, already tired of this conversation.

"Hmm." You take the hum as a sign that the topic has ended and you enjoy the quiet. That is until you hear Draco let out soft snores.

You smile at the soft sound, as you have never seen Draco looking so content. He usually holds a serious expression, so it was nice to see him let his guard down.

He let his guard down in front of you.
