Holidays are a drag. Parents criticizing your every decision you made at Hogwarts, preparation for some ball they are holding, and constant letters from Draco wanting to know when you will see him.

Being away from Hogwarts for this long meant that you have no chance about finding more about yourself and your wand.

Suddenly your mother walks into your room and places a box on your bed. The box looks too fancy for you to touch. You glance up at her in curiosity and wonder why she gave you this.

"It's for the ball Y/N, After all, it is on today, or did you forget?" She asks with an edge in her tone.

"Of course not, Mother." Of course you did.

She gives a very faint smile and excuses herself from your room, leaving you to get ready. Getting up from your desk, you walk over to your bed and open the gold box, only to see a dress in it.

Sighing, you pick up the material and your eyes widen in awe. The material was beautiful. The dress was aqua and black colored, with small frills at the end. Thankfully it was knee high, as you aren't fond of dresses that drag at your feet.

Slipping on your dress, you glance in the mirror, not sure what on earth to do with your hair.

Walking out into the living room, you find your mother in the kitchen, all dressed up.

"Oh Y/N, it's beautiful on you!" She gushes. "Oh but we really need to do something about your hair."

With a flick or her wand, your hair is now in two french braids, cascading down your back. (If you have short hair, I'm sorry, Just imagine it's still short).

"Oh, one more thing!" She turns around and picks something up of the counter and hands it to you.

"It's a mask, and it's required for the ball." She gives you the black mask and you observe the design. It's got grindstones and feathers, giving it a bit of glam.

"Thank you, Mother." All you get in response is a simple nod and is soon asked to take some plates of food and take them into the ballroom.

Suddenly the bell rings, and you quickly put on your mask, making your way back into the living room, where you assume the guests will go to first. Instantly you see a small white haired Family, and you are quick to notice how much Draco has grown.

Your shoes must have made some noise, because Draco turned around and his jaw dropped to the floor, you weren't sure if this was a good thing or not..

"Wow.. Y/N.." He stuttered.

He was wearing an all black suit, with a green and black mask, bringing out his silver eyes that held a gleam in them.

"Was that a good "wow"?" You ask hesitantly.

"Is it what? You look amazing." He states boldly. Your cheeks warm up at the compliment since your not used to them.

Suddenly Draco takes a few steps towards you so he's only a few centimeters away from you and bends down to whisper in your ear.

"You better save me a dance tonight."

"O-of course." You stutter at the closeness.

He finally takes a step back and sends you a smirk before turning around to engage in a conversation with his family.

More and more guests start showing until there is hundreds of people, and the party was finally taken down into the ballroom.

It started off simple. Some music playing and people having a fun time. You were talking to Blaise about school when something catches your eye.

Draco and Pansy dancing together, smiling and having a good time.

You don't understand what feeling you are feeling, but it felt as if someone had stabbed you in the chest. Even though Blaise was still talking, you couldn't tear your eyes away from them.

"Y/N!" Blaise snaps his fingers in front of your face, catching your attention.

"Sorry." You giggly nervously. He only smiles comfortingly.

"Staring at Draco?" He gets straight to the point.

"He doesn't look bad tonight." You admit. He doesn't. But he looks better than 'not bad', he looks amazing. You are still in shock of how much taller he has gotten.

"Pansy apparently thinks the same thing." Blaise replies.

"Why is he with her?" You ask rhetorically, mainly to yourself.

"Draco doesn't want to hurt her, shes sensitive." He answers anyway.

You didn't care about Pansy. She burned that friendship ages ago. She was nothing more than desperate. She so blind.

"Not my problem." You say with irritation. A small smirk plays on Blaise's face at your response, but he drops the topic anyway.

You head over to the refreshment table, suddenly needing some water from the heat in the room. You jolt a bit when someone taps your shoulder and you turn to see Draco with his hand over his mouth, trying to not let a laugh escape at your scare.

"Yes?" You ask with a flat tone.

His eyes widen at your tone, only to turn into a slight look of concern.

"Are you alright? You seem annoyed." He asks.

"I'm fine, Draco. It's nothing." You try to give a reassuring smile. He tries to reply with a response but you beat him to it as the music ends, about to start a new tune.

"I promised you a dance, did I not?" You state, and grab his sleeve, dragging him to the dance floor.

The new music is a slow one, and you glance around to find couples slowly dancing to it. You are about to walk off until Draco grabs your hands and wraps them around his neck and quickly places his hands on your hips.

Letting Draco take the lead because you know you are a terrible dancer, he takes small steps around the floor, going at his own pace with the music.

"I'm glad we have gotten close Y/N." He announces, just loud enough for you to hear over the music.

"Thank god I insulted you then, right?" You chuckle.

"Hmm, I was actually a little bit offended by that." He admits.

"It all worked out in the end eventually."

"Hmm." He hums, contently.

Soon the song ended, but Draco still hadn't let go, despite a new tune being put on.

"Dra-" You start, but he pulls you into a hug.

"Thank you for sharing this dance with me." He mumbles into your neck.

As quick as he had pulled you into the hug, he let go and offered a small smile before excusing him self.

Not long after, the crowds of people finally left as it was after midnight. Finally you were able to go to bed. Slipping out of your dress, you put on your comfy pajamas.

You fall asleep to the thought of Draco's hug.
