Spaw sat hunched close to Trek and Skull. She wasn't sure what to say; wasn't sure what to do. She had lost everything in a few days time and now she felt cold and alone. Her friends were great, but that didn't mean that she didn't want her parents. She missed Akaylar and Galaxy more than she could ever express.
"This is all Kahn's fault," spat Spaw as her friends jumped beside her. "If it wasn't for him then both of my parents and Jim would still be alive. I hate him! I want him dead!"
Trek nudged her shoulder. "I understand, but I'm pretty sure that there was nothing that you could have done."
That didn't make her feel any better. But, she suddenly jumped as she saw Spock rushing past her. Spock kneeled in front of her and she looked up. "Will you come with me?"
"Come with you," echoed Spaw in surprise. "Come with you where?"
"I'm going after Kahn. He deserves to pay for what he's done and I believe that you and I have the same ambitions," Spock pointed out.
Spaw darted to her paws and narrowed her eyes to unforgiving slits. "You bet I want in!"
"Spaw, don't," argued Skull with reservations clear in his voice. "Kahn's dangerous."
Spaw stood to her full heigh and faced her best friend. "Skull, I know what I'm doing. You have to trust me," she half assured, half growled. She then turned to Spock. "I'm ready."
The two darted to the transporter and Spaw readied herself, her claws extending. She felt the familiar prickling sensation before she found herself on the ground. People were starting to huddle around a bit in surprise before Spaw let out a growl as she opened her mouth to try and scent the air around her, but she couldn't detect anything at first.
Once she had gotten used to the scents around her, Kahn's scent was easy to detect. She bunched her muscles as she let out a growl. "Follow me," she ordered as she pelted forward.
She took too the air and flapped her wings madly as she took to the air. Spock darted after he rand it wasn't long before she saw Kahn. She snarled as she lunged forward him with her paws extended.
She managed to sink her claws and teeth into his thigh, shredding it as well as she could. Kahn turned in agitation instead of pain as he reached his arm down and clutched her throat. Spaw gasped in pain as Kahn lifted her up as agony pulsed through her entire body. "H-Help," he stammered.
Suddenly, Spock flew through the air and hit Kahn harshly so that Spaw fell sideways. Spaw landed on the ground, coughing as she struggled to breathe. Her eyes narrowed to slits as she lifted her head and saw Spock and Kahn darting through the streets.
She grunted as she forced herself to her paws, her claws jutting out. She pelted after them as she took to the air with her wings spread. She flew forward and saw them fighting on ships that were flying lowly through the air. She landed gingerly on the ship and bared her teeth as she lunged for Kahn.
She sunk her teeth into Kahn's neck and into his chest. She could feel his entire body trying to fight from under her, but he deserved to pay for this.
She continued to sink her teeth deeper and deeper until blood gushed out so much that it filled her mouth and she gagged.
"Spaw!"
Spaw heard someone screech her name, but it was if she couldn't let go. She had to make him suffer like he had made her suffer.
"SPAW!"
Spaw turned and saw Trek standing there with his eyes round. "Let him go."
Spaw reluctantly let go of his throat before she whirled on Trek. "Why should I let him live for what he's done," she spat as blood flew from her lip.
"Letting him live is the only way to save Jim and your mother," Trek explained.
Spaw looked down at Kahn once more before she thrust a paw against Kahn's head to knock him out. If there was any chance to save Jim or her mother, she needed to at least try. That was the only reason she let him live.
