~ Maxine’s {POV} ~

As I was peacefully sleeping my stupid phone began ringing I angrily got up from bed and I stepped on moldy pie; great bad morning already. I wiped my foot on my dirty jersey that was on the floor and answered my phone.

“Who the hell is calling me this early in the morning?” I yelled through the phone.

“Maxine, it’s me Alfred, I just wanted to know how you got out if they didn’t even ask Tony to testify for you.”

“Well apparently there wasn’t enough evidence to keep me there so I came home, if that is all I’m going back to bed and don’t call me this early ever again do you understand?”

“Yes I do but its 12:30 it’s the afternoon now not morning.”

“Alfred do not start with me right now I’m tired and angry, goodbye.”

I hung up before he could keep talking and headed towards my bed again. Alfred is in my crew he takes care of my ‘business’ and makes sure people pay up or suffer the consequences. I laid down on my bed when my phone rang again. I was so angry that I grabbed the pocket knife from under my pillow and threw it at my wall and got up to get the phone again and I stepped on the pie again. Ugh! I should really throw that away.

“What the hell is wrong with people calling me at this time? This better be important or I will personally cut your throat open.” I threatened through the phone, but not that I would actually cut open someone's throat I was just pissed but they don’t know that.

“Very funny Maxine, but I know you would never cut anyone’s throat open especially mine.”

That familiar soothing voice ran tingles through my body I knew exactly who it was and he was right I would never in a million years hurt him.

“About time you call me you son of a bitch.” I responded with a smirk on face trying so hard not to laugh.

“Sorry I have been busy like trying to keep your ass out of prison for one.”

“Well you didn’t have to I can take care of myself.”

“You know I wouldn’t just sit around and wait to see if you got thrown in prison; and if you got thrown in prison you know that would kill me.”

“I know you can’t live without me, but I don’t need protecting I can handle this on my own and anyway I got out without your help.”

“Yeah sure whatever we can discuss this more later, but I really want to see you, when do you want to meet up?”

“IDK, I guess tonight at 10 by the river, how does that sound?”

“Perfect can’t wait take care, bye.”

“I will, see you tonight bye.”

Tony and I have been together for a while now and he’s been my friend forever. He has always put me first ahead of everyone and I know I can count on him, but he also doesn’t know the full story of what happened that night and I’m most definitely to telling him any time soon. Let’s just hope he doesn’t question me too much tonight, but I think we will be too busy to discuss anything really so I might be in luck. Now back to bed, but before I’m disconnecting my phone so no one can interrupt my sleep any more.

“I can’t believe this!” exclaimed a rugged man from behind a bar, “If it isn’t Maxine Hexs! I actually didn’t think I would see you today, since the whole being accused of murder thing.”
