P.S. It starts with 3 years ago... after the man grinned wickedly and left...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The other man still stood hidden in the shadows. My hands were shaking. I don't want to kill anyone. I mean I've stabbed people in the leg and shot their foot, but not actually KILLED someone! But if I don't join them they'll kill me and won't see Tony again! But if I join them I might not see him again either, so why not die it's not like I have anyone else.
"Please join us." The man interrupted my rambling thoughts. His voice was scary, but pleading.
"I-I don't want to kill anyone." I said backing up more until I hit the cold, slimy wall.
"You don't have to... I'll make sure you don't, but if you don't join us he will kill you and I don't want that..." He trailed off as if in deep thought. Although his voice was deep and terrifying, there was also concern in it which made me relax just a bit.
"What's the job? Not that I have decided to join you yet!" I said a little more at ease.
"We kill important, rich people and take everything. Never leaving a trail that points back to us. I will make sure you don't have to kill anyone, all you have to do is find the people we want to kill and find their weaknesses and get in their house to check the security to report back to us. You won't have to do anything else."
"But what about my friends will... will I be able to see him... them again?"
"Yes, you will still stay at your house as long as you don't tell ANYONE what we are doing. Please join, I really don't want you dead." He begged with his still creepy voice.
"Why don't you want me to die? You don't even know me."
"Because you remind me a lot of my little sister. I don't know why, but you do. She was captured three years ago at the age of 13 by some big, corrupt, business man. That's why I'm in this business because one day I will find that man and kill him myself and take everything he ever had... So I just want to protect you since I can't her."
I felt myself become completely relaxed. He truly cared and I felt so sorry for his sister. Plus I can still see Tony and I don't want to die, so I think I'm going to work for them.
"Ok. I'll work for you guys."
"Good, just so you know we have one MAJOR rule! That is you must not talk about the demises of the people we kill. They must be unspoken demises."
With that he stepped out of the shadows for me to see him. He had a scar on his face, he had a buzz cut, was tall and muscular, and hella tattoos. I gasped at first because he looked frigging terrifying like he could tear me to shreds easily. But then I saw that behind all that creepiness, his eyes held a bit of softness in them. Since then I've seen him like a giant teddy bear instead of creepy. He was the big brother I wish I had...
~ Present ~
I look at Gordon pleadingly, but I know that he can't risk his life for me. Not when he still hasn't found his sister and it's been 6 years. Some believe she's dead, but Gordon doesn't. He is still very hopeful and so am I. If she's anything like he has described, then I know she must be a strong girl; probably wanting nothing more than to reconnect with her brother. That's how I'd feel. Not about Mathew, about Gordon.
"I'm sorry Gordon. I know it's too much to ask and you can't always save me. I understand." He winces as I say that he couldn't always save me. I know I'm like a little sister to him and he wishes to keep me as save as possible.
