"O.k. Maxine, I've got my best and most dangerous guys looking for information on both people. I still think you should tell me who they are and why you need this info." Wes informs me as soon as he hangs up the phone.
"Wes I can tell you who the girl is. She is the sister of a friend who's always saved my ass more than once. She's missing and we are trying to find her. As for the second person I can't tell you. I don't really want you to get to deep into this." I tell him and stand up from the chair I was sitting on in front of his desk.
He gives me a concerned look, but drops it.
"Thank you so much Wes. Now if you excuse me I need to speak with Francis."
"Alright. I will call you as soon as my guys get any info."
I walk over to him and give him a hug. I then walk out of his office with Gordon trailing behind me.
Wes didn't even ask me about Gordon and I know it wasn't because he was being rude or ignorant; it's because he was focused on helping me out. Which I appreciate.
Francis is swiping the counter. Most people already left. Only a few are still drinking or shooting darts. I walk over to Francis.
"Francis, I need you to do something for me." I say right as I reached him.
He stopped swiping the counter to turn to me.
"Anything for you Maxine." He says with a bright smile.
Francis is so adorable. He is sweet and kind. He reminds me of a puppy sometimes. He has piercing blue/gray eyes and messy dirty blonde hair. He's tall and has some muscles but not many and is lean and has a handsome face.
"Did the guy you were talking to about me happen to give you his number?" I ask him.
"Yeah. Why? You want it?"
"No. I want you to call him. You are NOT going to tell him that I told you to call him or that you have seen or even spoken to me. You are going to tell him that you forgot to mention a few things about me that you remembered and you want to meet here at the Raven."
"Ok. I will call him right after work. At what time should I tell him to be here?" He asks me. He didn't even ask why I wanted him to do this. I'm glad he didn't. He's just going to do me a favor no questions asked. He's a good friend.
"Tomorrow before the bar opens." I respond.
He nods. Gordon and I walk out of the bar and into the car. Back to the safe house... woohoo! Note the sarcasm that place is frigging boring!
~Mathew's POV ~
It's 1:30am and I'm still awake. I have so much shit running through my brain. Like Maxine, Lorelei, the murder, Jared, my childhood...
I sigh. This is too much. I really didn't think my life would turn out like this.
I never thought of becoming an NSA agent. When this job began circulating my mind was at age 19. At first I thought I had to be an NSA agent or at least FBI because I was being forced to... After when I was 21 and I got the job, I fell in love with it. They thought I was too young, but I had practically all their requirements and was very good at what I do. I was also a very fast learner. I ended up not doing what I was supposed to do once I got the job. They were pissed, but I couldn't abuse of my power as an NSA agent...
The day I refused to follow through with why I was supposed to become an NSA agent for was the day I lost all of my family, since I had already lost Maxine about five years before that.
I hate them for doing this to me and Maxine...
My thoughts were interrupted by my cell ringing. I scramble up from the soft hotel bed and walk towards the table where my phone is charging. I pick up my phone and it says 'unknown'. I raise and eyebrow and debate on whether I should answer it or not.
"Hello?" I chose to answer it.
"Hello? Chris? It's Francis from the bar." A young male voice spoke from the other end.
Francis called me Chris because my middle name is Christopher. I couldn't tell him my real name in case he told Maxine about me.
"Hey man, what can I help you with?"
"Hey can we meet tomorrow at the Raven like at 11am? I forgot to mention a few things about Maxine that I thought you might find interesting." He said.
"Sure. Hey have you heard anything from Maxine yet?" I hope he has.
"No sorry man I haven't, but as soon as I see her or talk to her I'll tell you."
"Ok thanks. I will see you tomorrow at the bar." With that we hung up.
I wonder what he forgot to tell me that I would find so interesting. I mean it's been five days since anyone has heard from Maxine or even seen her. Out of nowhere he remembers something about her? Something's off here.
I shake my head slightly.
I must be thinking to much into this. Francis seems like a nice kid. I think he'd told me if he saw Maxine.
Maxine... My baby sister... Missing. Why do I feel guilt rising in me?
I was a good brother to her... Once upon a life time. I know leaving her was a horrible thing to do, but I honestly didn't have a choice then. At least I didn't think I had a choice.
I shouldn't have ever left her. She didn't deserve all the things she went through just because I had abandoned her. I feel like such an asshole-y brother.
But just because she didn't deserve all thee horrible things she had gone through doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to go to prison. If she committed the murder.
Which I'm not sure what to believe. Although it doesn't matter what I believe what matters is the evidence. Evidence I don't have.
Back then she was stubborn, sweet, feisty little girl. She didn't take no for an answer and did anything to get what she wanted. She was a happy girl with a beautiful wide smile that lit up your day.
Now I don't know how she is.
She is a cold-hearted, lying, conniving murder?
Or a troubled girl who was framed for a murder she didn't commit?
Or is she a girl who's deep down is scared and alone because got into some deep shit and helped with the murder, but didn't actually murder the person?
