~ Maxine’s {POV} ~

I can’t believe my own brother thinks of me as murderer! I honestly didn’t know that man! I can’t tell my brother why I was at that man’s apartment either because I can’t even imagine what he will think of me then. Not that I care because he left me 10 years ago and I’ve been able to take care of myself perfectly fine. I don’t need him, but my reputation is still at stake here. I may be a total bitch, threating people, getting money not a 100% legally, drinking beer starting at the age of 10, but a murderer! That I am most definitely not! I need to get out of town ASAP before my brother finds out why I was really there and before the man’s son finds me, because if he finds me I’m screwed big time. No one can know what happened that night… No one!!! Suddenly my eye lids began to feel heavy and knew I couldn’t fight my tiredness anymore. I turned off the T.V. which I had completely forgotten I had turned on in the first place and headed to my room. I put on an old jersey which was surprisingly clean and some pajama shorts with Star Wars on them. I pushed all the clothes from my bed to the floor and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was fast asleep. Tomorrow better be a good day!

~ Mathew’s {POV} ~

I’ve gone through these tapes a million times and I just can’t find anything useful!!! I will just have to play it one more time… “The reason why my bracelet was in his apartment is because I… 'knew' his son…” Wait!!! That’s it. “… is because I… 'knew' his son…” She hesitated when she said “knew”; she had to think of a word to use which means she is hiding something important and I will find out very soon what it is because if she is hiding something it will be considered obstruction of justice and she will be charged if not found guilty.

As I was about to gather the evidence and go home my office door opened and a beautiful woman with black curls that hung perfectly on the side of her face with shoes that cut and eyes that burn like cigarettes walked in. She was smokin’ but you could tell she is someone you do not want to mess with. She walked inside while playing with her jewelry and was wearing a short skirt and a very long jacket.

“Agent Hexs you are here early, that is unsual.” She said with a big smile on her red lips.

“Well Agent Williams, I happen to not have left yet.”

“I was wondering why you were still wearing yesterday’s clothes,” she quickly pointed out, “but seriously, staying in the office all day and night is not good for you; you need sleep.”

“I do not I’m fine; plus I needed to find evidence on my new case it was important.”

“Well at least I know you aren’t cheating on me Mathew.” She said while walking slowly to me and giving me a soft tender kiss.

“You know I will never do anything like that, we’ve been together for years I love you Lorelei, and you know that.”

This time I kissed her with a little more force almost standing up from my chair, before she pushed me away and said “The office is for business and guns only; now go home and rest a little before coming back, I get worried about you sometimes.”

And with that said I kissed her one last time before grabbing my stuff and heading outside to the parking lot to go home.

I drive a 1967 black Chevrolet impala, a beauty and a classic; this is my most prized possession, kind of like my baby. Got to love the impala.

The impala holds so many memories from my youth, the good memories that is. I got it when I was sixteen and my dad first bought it when he was sixteen and I will give it to my son one day when he turns sixteen.

I remember once Maxine wanted to go with me and some friends to the mall when she was 6 and I wouldn’t let her so she hung on from the back of the impala and I dragged her through the streets as she wouldn’t let go not even when I was driving. Maxine was one stubborn yet sweet girl; I still can’t believe that was the last year I saw her before now. My baby sister is now the suspect of a murder case and if someone had told me this back then I would have been laughing so much I would have probably peed my pants. This still doesn’t change the fact that if she is in fact the killer I’m putting her in prison myself.
