Ch.17 Complicated Affairs

I can't see anything...

I touch the area near my eyes and sure enough their open. Why can't I see anything?

I start walking with no end in sight that is until I heard Eve's screams. I hear the scream to my right and instantly run towards the sound.

The sound I despise so much

I keep putting on foot in front of the other but the screams don't seem to be getting any closer, in fact I feel more distant.

"Eve!" I try shouting but nothing replied, not even a simple light tapping of feet, not even a muffled reply, not even a single sound aside from her screams that send me into a confused and scared state

I give up and start sobbing as I drop down and cling to my knees that are brought up to my face. "I'm sorry E-Eve..." I await a response that will never come

And suddenly the ground collapses and I get swallowed into the abyss as I scream down the scary dark unknown.

I land with a thud, the aching of my bones not making the situation any better but surprisingly enough still not injured. I make no effort of sitting back up and let the cool surface comfort my cheek as I grovel in self pity.

Yuki?

My train of thought is invaded with a sweet an innocent voice that resembles a curious young boy that reminds of someone I can't quite pinpoint

Don't give up!

As I look up I see the middle of the dark abyss illuminated by light. I slowly stand up and walk towards the circle. As I nearly reach the light the world suddenly starts shaking and I am once again falling into my demise

"Yuki!" I am woken up with an aggressive shake accompanied by a very loud voice that worsens the aching in my head. I suddenly remember the dream from before and instantly glance around to see nothing but an ordinary clinic filled with the usual care taking needs. I tentatively look at Eve to see if she's alright

"You know you didn't need to stay here for me..." Eve's eyes met mine and in those eyes I felt that she was lying, lying because she needed company and reassurance that she won't go through that again

I don't say anything as I stand up and open my arms. Eve stares at me for awhile before she scoots over to the edge of her bed and welcomes the embrace I gladly provide

Me and Eve abruptly set our eyes on the door, completely frozen as we await the person or thing that might pass through. Our suspicions are quickly cleared as we see Mr. Reist poke his head out with an expression that can warm the hearts of women everywhere

"You two doing alright?" Mr. Reist enters the room fully, as usual wearing a suit that makes him look like a lawyer, a very seductive and hot law—

"Y-Yes Mr. Reist" I awkwardly nod. I cannot believe I just thought of my Principal as some piece of meat

Mr. Reist comes closer and puts a hand on both our shoulders "Well that's good to know!" A few seconds pass before Eve asks the question of the day "Is h-he gone?" Mr. Reist's wide grin then shifts into a more serious expression and lightly shakes his head

I feel Eve's breathing becoming ragged as I attempt to soothe some of the anxiety away "But don't worry kid, we'll get that mug before he can cause anymore trouble" He pats our shoulders as we still debate whether what he says is really true
