Stretch stood out in the garden of the Underfell Castle. A cigar perched in the side of his mouth, blowing small puffs of gray smoke with every breath.
"What are you doing out here?" A small voice asked.
Turning around Stretch caught sight of two glowing red orbs, a small grin found its way onto his face as he tore his glaze away from the small servant and up at the night sky, "Just thinking."
Red frowned and walked over so he could stand side by side with the older Prince, "Not many people come out here anymore."
A light laugh made its way out of Stretch's mouth, "I can see that."
The two glaze at the brown dead grass which served as their garden, "This use to be a bright, colorful garden once."
"Oh? What happened?"
The Servant shrugged, "Same thing that happened to the rest of the Kingdom."
Red didn't have to say his name for the Prince to understand. Edge. Edge happened.
With a sigh Stretch took out his cigarette and tossed it onto the ground, smearing it with his boot. Red glanced over at the much taller male, "Why do you do that?"
The white haired male shrugged looking back at Red, "I suppose it helps clear my head."
Silence wrapped around them like a blanket, comfortable yet suffocating. Both men watched the dark midnight sky as if it held the anwers to their questions. As if those shinny balls (no dirty thoughts kiddos) of gas could save them.
Finally Stretch looked away and pulled out a small cardboard box of cigarettes. Before he could lit the small object Red spoke up, "Could, uh, I have one?"
He glaced down at the brown haired male, a frown making its way onto his face, "A cigarette?"
Red let out a small huff as he rolled his eyes, "Yes a cigarette you dufus."
"Why?"
Red shrugs, "You said it helps clear your head."
"Well..." Stretch couldn't come up with a excuse so with a sigh he handed one over to the smaller male.
A look of confusion came over Red's face as he took the cigar, "How do you light it?"
Stretch couldn't help but chuckle at his innocence, "Here," he pulled out his lighter and lit the cancer stick, "There ya' go."
Both men took a drag of their cigars before Red started coughing. The Prince let a smile craw onto his face, "You okay?"
"Ugh how can you stand this thing? It tastes horrible." Red grumbled throwing the cigarette on the ground.
Once again the taller shrugs, "I guess I'm just use to it," Red scoffs, "Besides you aren't supposed to breathe it in." He informs with a laugh.
"Your a dick." Red muttered.
Stretch just smiled. Maybe their time here wouldn't be so bad.
