My second story on wattpad, hope you like it!
Chapter 1.
I walked up the sandy path not knowing whether to feel nervous or calm. I mean I should feel happier now I was here; a quiet beach town perfect for starting again, but that was just it, I didn’t want to start again, I didn’t want to let go.
“Come on Summer, then we can bring in your stuff” I looked up at my auntie Violet and realised I had stopped walking, I smiled and carried on the long path towards the white beach house. The long grass surrounding tickled my legs as I walked reminding me of the summers I had spent here as a child, not that I had been to Violet’s since I was 12 years old. 4 years later and here I am, though I had a feeling it wouldn’t be as easy and carefree as it was back then. We entered into the huge hall with the grand staircase on the right. The beach house was open plan and extremely big yet it still managed to have that cosy homely feel, in the living area, one of the walls was completely lined with books, most tattered and worn.
“I’ll go and fetch some of your things from the car” Violet called watching me as I looked around, “you go get settled, you remember where your room is right?”
“yeah first door on the left” I called back already halfway up the stairs, I opened the door and smiled as the old decor looked back at me, the only thing that had changed were the sheets on the bed. Violet had always given me the best room whenever we visited; it had two huge windows overlooking the sea and a double bed with little lights around the headboard. I dropped my bag on to the white armchair and sat on one of the window seats, once again my brain reminded me of memories of my family on the beach, my mum trying desperately to get my dad in to the sea, I remembered her face as she pouted like a child while me and my sister laughed at them both. A tear rolled down my cheek before I could stop it and I immediately scolded myself, what would crying do? It wouldn’t bring my mum and dad back. My phone vibrated in my pocket suddenly breaking my train of thought, I checked the caller ID, it was my little sister Olivia
“hey Livvie” I answered
“Summer! Finally I rang you a million times already” I laughed, she liked to exaggerate
“a million?”
“Close enough, anyway what’s the date I’m coming again?”
“the 12th! I told you a million times already!” I replied using her words, I heard her laugh down the phone
“you always exaggerate” she scolded “ok well I was just checking”
“well don’t forget this time” I laughed “are you ok?” my sisters school still had a few more days of school before they broke up for summer so she had stayed with a friend’s family while I went on up to Violet’s
“yeah I guess, I miss you sunny” she replied sounded sad, I smiled at the name sunny; she had always called me that since she was little
“I miss you too”
After the conversation with my sister I went downstairs to help Violet with dinner, it was her special soup, the only meal she could actually make, she was in the kitchen chopping up vegetables when I entered
“hey honey, if you need anything else in your room just ask ok? There are clean towels in your en-suite and I did your bed the other day so I think that’s everything” she said, I laughed as I watched her mark off her to-do list, she always was the more organised one, and more confident, I guess that’s what makes her so good at her job. My auntie works for the town council so that means everyone is already talking about the head governess’ niece moving to town after her mother and father were killed. This would make starting a new school after summer so much harder.
