Chapter 3.

I jerked upright on my bed, what was that noise? The hard tap sounded again and I jumped pulling the covers around me. This was it I was going to get kidnapped murdered even. Seriously summer? Twice in one night, I laughed quietly at myself and walked over to the window to look where it was coming from, I knelt down on the window seat and looked out

“finally!” a familiar voice called, I jumped AGAIN and finally found where the voice was coming from

“Chase, what do you want?” I whisper yelled trying not to wake Livvie or Violet

“I need to talk to you” he replied “about earlier” just thinking of his words made me angry ‘damaged girls like you’

“well I think you said all you needed to say” I said starting to close the window

“Summer, wait! Please” I sighed and pulled back open the window looking at him expectantly “I know what I said was horrible and I feel like such a jerk but I didn’t mean it, it just kind of came out” he called exasperated “look I already feel weird throwing rocks at your window,  can you just come down here?”

“I don’t know” I replied “isn’t this the part where you start quoting Shakespeare or serenading me” I continued jokingly

“oh haha very funny, I would have waited until the morning but funnily enough I couldn’t sleep!” he shouted

“sssshhhh! I’ll be down in a minute” I turned away pulling down the window, I pulled on my hoodie and converse and silently crept down the stairs and out the door onto the front porch, Chase was sat on the steps so I went and sat beside him, he looked up and smiled “hi” I laughed

“I think we’ve covered that” he laughed and stood up reaching out his hand, when I didn’t accept he lunged towards me a devilish grin on his face and swung me over his shoulder laughing

“chase!” I yelled at him “put me down now!”

“not till you forgive me” he answered laughing at my attempts to get down

“that’s not fair! Decent people would just grovel or something”

“I have! I just came to your house in the middle of the night to apologise I think I deserve some credit” I suppose that was kind of sweet, though my mum always said I forgave people too easily

“true, but, come on you said I was ‘damaged’ I mean I met you once and your already judging me” he pulled me off his shoulder and put me down, I noticed we were no longer by the beach house and near to where we met the other day. The storm had long gone since the other night and today the air was warm even at 2 am

“hey I know, I’m sorry, my mum always says I was born without the thing that tells you not to say stuff” he answered with a smile

“you still think it” I whispered looking down, he lifted my chin so I was looking at him

“I don’t, you’re just unlucky, you lost your parents it doesn’t mean you’re damaged, I was wrong to say that” he replied, I looked down again feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, I was silent for a minute then realised he had put me down

“I never said I would forgive you” I said smiling mischievously, he smirked and started to come towards me, I backed way slowly “no, not again no!” I squealed as he lifted me back up

“say it!” he yelled laughing

“ok I forgive you, I forgive you!”
