Chasing Summer

Chapter 13.

Chapter 13.

“so” Chase said as we got out of the car and wandered slowly back up the path to the beach house “I guess I’ll see you tomorrow” I nodded and tried to keep the smile off my face, I felt better than I had in a long time. I bit my lip and looked up at him, as if reading my mind he leant down and kissed me lightly, I smiled even wider as he leant back and let go of my hand

“you going to leave now you have what you want?” I asked him jokingly stifling a giggle, he laughed and pulled me closer again

“hm I don’t think I have enough yet” he replied with a smile, I laughed and wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him down to my level again, damn his tallness, his lips touched mine again and he pulled me closer deepening the kiss. I pulled back after a few minutes and shoved him away

“you know I think I changed my mind, I guess you just don’t live up to expectations” I said turning back to walk up the porch steps and listening to Chase’ laughter

“so you had expectations huh Summer? Didn’t know you dreamt about me”

“jerk!” I called as he walked over to his car, I let out a laugh as he waved at me

“you love me” I laughed again and sighed as he got in to the car, I smiled as he drove off then turned to go inside. I opened the door quietly not wanting to wake Violet or Livvie, I had left quickly earlier and not really told Violet when I would be back, it was past midnight now so I assumed everyone would be asleep. I got up the stairs without making much noise then slowly slid in to my bedroom closing the door quietly. I was actually looking forward to having a good night’s sleep for a change, usually I was woken up by Chase and wouldn’t be home for hours. I changed and then flopped down on my bed still smiling. Me and Chase. I mean we kissed but where did that leave us? I rolled over on to my side facing the door and shook my head, it didn’t matter, I was happy, he seemed happy so there was no problem. I sighed and closed my eyes waiting for sleep to take over me

I was just about to fall asleep when I heard my door opening slowly, I sighed and opened my eyes reluctantly

“Summer” I heard Livvie say from the side of my bed

“hey, what’s wrong?” I asked her sitting up and switching on the light on the table next to me

“I had a bad dream” she replied sniffling, I sighed and reached out to her pulled her in to my arms

“do you want to talk about it?” I asked her rocking her slowly back and forth like I did when she was really little, she shook her head and sank in to me

“can I stay with you tonight?” I nodded and she lay down snuggling in to me, she never wanted to talk about it. I already knew what the dream was about, she was dreaming about mum and dad again, she had done for a few weeks after the accident, it had stopped since we had gotten here and I prayed it wouldn’t start again, she would wake up crying and had slept in my bed every night, I didn’t mind, I would always be here for her, besides it made everything feel a little bit less lonely.

I woke in the morning with no sheets and halfway off the bed, I groaned as I sat up and looked over at Livvie, she was spread out in the middle of my bed rolled up in the bed sheets. I grabbed my pillow and tossed it lightly on to her head, she sat up immediately hair over her face

“hey!” she said rubbing her eyes, I chuckled at her and walked over to the bathroom

“time to get up sunshine!” I said cheerily closing the door as she flopped back down on the bed with a groan, I laughed again and hopped in to the shower. I sighed and began to wonder what to wear, I didn’t know what we were doing today but I knew I wanted to look nice today. I finally decided on a blue summer dress and ran my fingers through my hair leaving my long curls loose.

“good morning” I greeted cheerfully as I wandered out on to the back porch, Violet was just placing breakfast on to the table and raised my eyebrows at her

“don’t worry Livvie helped me” she said laughing, I sat down at my usual place and took a sip of my orange juice

“what are you so happy about this morning?” Livvie said sitting down across from me, I frowned at her

“what do you mean?”

“you do look rather cheery Summer” Violet agreed looking over at me, I forced back a smile as I thought back to last night

“I danced again” I finally answered looking down at my plate, I heard Violet gasped and looked back up to see them both smiling like idiots “what?” I asked, it wasn’t that much of  a deal, well to me it was but I didn’t see why it should be for them

“it worked!” Violet cheered giving Livvie a high five

“what did?” I asked again getting confused

“well Chase told us what he was planning, how else did you think he got your old ballet shoes?” she replied pouring her and Livvie some water

“he said he got them off you I guess I never really thought that must mean you know what was going on”

“so is that the only reason you can’t stop smiling?” Livvie asked smirking mischievously, I tried to stop smiling once again and had to look down focusing on my food

“what’s going on, there’s something else?” Violet said leaning in, what is it with these two? They love gossip!

“I never said that” I replied still looking down, I knew if I looked up I would start laughing or it would just burst out of me.

“it’s written all over your face” Violet prodded laughing when I started to blush, the doorbell rang and I breathed a sigh of relief, saved by the bell. Violet got up and then looked back at me

“this isn’t over” she said smiling, I rolled my eyes and laughed ignoring Livvie’s suspicious looks, I sighed again that it was over until I heard a familiar voice. Oh no.

“Summer, Chase is here” Violet said walking back on to the porch with a smiling Chase following her

“hey” he said when he saw me making  his smile even wider

“hi” I replied

“what is with everyone and being so happy today” Livvie said shaking her head

“wait a minute” Violet said her eyes getting wide “you two” she pointed between the two of us and I heard Livvie gasp followed by a blush on my part “no!” she squeled excitedly, I rolled my eyes and slammed my head down on to the table, I heard Chase laugh and wondered how won earth he could be so calm about this “finally” Violet continued squealing. Kill me now.

“want to get out of here” Chase whispered by my ear, I looked up and nodded, he grabbed my hand and we quickly escaped back in to the house away from the squealing

“so where to?” I asked him once we were by his car

“how about a little day trip?” he asked winking at me as he opened up the car door.

“lead the way”
