Chapter 17

After taking a shower and putting on my mission gear, I began double checking everything that I needed. It was around midnight, and everyone was getting ready for the mission. I've never been more nervous in my entire life; the pressure was weighing on me like a pool of water.

Watch? Check. Gear? Check. Boots? Check. Question is, should I, or should I not, put on my bandana? It would keep my hair at bay, although it could fall off maybe, or get caught on something mid-battle. What to do, what to do...

Just then, Daren came out of the bathroom, dripping wet and hot from the shower, and only in a towel. My heart dropped hard in my chest as my entire body flew up a few hundred degrees. With an IQ dropping by the dozen, I stared gawking at his perfected body before me. My heart picked up in speed as he never stopped walking and came closer and closer towards me. The moment he was in a sticks range away, I quickly turned my back to him and squeezed my hands around my bandana and my eyes shut.

Stop thinking these things, stop thinking, stop thinking! I am really starting to regret reading so many romance books that weren't necessarily within my age group. I don't think my heart and mind can take anymore!

My thoughts vanished, and my heart skipped two beats once I felt Daren's arms wrap around me. Towel and all. I tensed as a chill ran down my spine from how firm and secure I felt in his arms once again.

"Ooooo, what thoughts are going through that pretty little head of yours? I think I would love to know." He said, cockily.

I would have been mad had I had any control over my emotions right now. All I could think of now, was how his breath tingled the skin it hit as he talked. His rough, but mellow voice he had, the vibrations shaking me to the core. I fully melted into his arms as the second's pass, until I realized he asked me something. I stuttered and fell over my words, but he just chuckled making me melt even more into his body. My emotions were overwhelmed; I could think, I couldn't speak, I could barely keep my legs up.

"Hmm... Zeera, do you have the feeling we could be-" He was cut off by the sound of his watch going off, signaling he was getting a call from someone.

At that moment, I snapped back to my senses and tensed a bit once he let go of me to answer. Moment forgotten, I tried to wrap my head around my bandana issue instead of what just happened. Deciding to just take it, I put on my black bandana, went over and sat on my bed, and looked on my phone.

Still no calls. Shocking.

Daren got dressed using a spell-the lazy bum-and gathered up all his gear. The atmosphere was tense and quiet, and I didn't want to bring up what just happened. He seemed to not think anything of it, so maybe I shouldn't either.

"Tonye says the group is meeting up outside near the forest. Are you ready?" He asks.

I took in what he was wearing. A black, tight, tank-top enchanted with the best fortifying spells there are, his mission belt, some black cargo pants, and his gear boots. Although, what stood out the most to me, was that he was wearing a thick, black, hooded cloak around him. Guess that was his signature look.

"Yeah, I think I'm ready." I said, getting up.

"Is your watch set to Telepathic Communication?"

"Uhh, what?"

He sighed and took my hand with the watch around its wrist. The heat spread from my hand to my body as I recalled earlier, but I pushed those thoughts aside as he explained to me about Telepathic Communication.
