I woke up alone on a PHR bed, the room around me still dark. It almost made me want to go right back to sleep, but the nagging voice in the back of my mind called a conscience was forcing me to get up.
I sat up slowly, fearing pain, but was shocked when I felt completely recovered. Nothing hurt, and my mind didn't feel as foggy as before. I sighed in relief, Thank goodness that's all over with.
I jumped out of bed, regretting it immensely as I met the freezing tile floor, and hurried towards the door. Wondering where my parents were, I peeked outside to find Aren-Dad sitting shirtless on a resting table with Kulea scanning him with some sort of healing spell.
"...How do you think Daren will take the news? I know you two were close." Asked Mom.
Dad sighed. "I don't have the slightest clue." He ran a hand through his long, flowing hair, "I just hope he can forgive me for everything I put him and Zeera through. God, I messed up so badly..."
Once Mom was done, she laid both hands on his chest. "Hey, they'll understand. And Daren was in the wrong at the time. They're very sweet children, I'm positive they won't hold this against you."
She kissed his cheek, and my body heat spiked as well as my breath. Feeling intrusive, I retreated inside the room and took a few deep breaths, wide eyed.
That... was probably rude. Yup, really rude. I shouldn't do that anymore; next time I wake up, I'm just gonna barge through that door and yell 'I'm awake!' to avoid seeing things like that. I rubbed my face with my hands and groaned, feeling extremely embarrassed.
"Zeera? You can come out now mitamu, we know you're there." Dad shouted. My heart jumped at being caught and I spun around quickly back to the door.
I peeked through once more to see them both staring right at me. Feeling embarrassed and defeated, I slowly opened the door all the way and made my way towards them.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to spy on you guys. Um, how are you feeling A-Aren?" I didn't know how Aren would feel about me calling him 'Dad' yet, so I held off for now.
He smiled brightly at me, the smile I haven't seen for a long while, the smile I missed oh-so badly.
"I'm feeling better now that you're here." He pulled me close and lifted me into a hug on his lap. "How are you feeling, Sunshine?"
"I'm good, but uh, are we all gonna talk about what's happening? With Daren and everything?" I asked him.
His faced turned serious. "Yes, we are." He put me down and jumped off the table, grabbing his shirt with him.
"Kulea, could you tell Raziya to have Daren meet me in my office in an hour? I'm gonna go get changed, and probably have Zeera get changed too." He said while putting his shirt on and guiding me towards the door.
"Sure thing, Moyomi." Mom replied, attempting to fix her hair. It didn't work.
"Thank you. After that, go take a bath and get to bed. You've helped us both a lot and you deserve the rest of the day to yourself for all that you've done. Zeera and I are grateful to have a partner and mother like you, right?" He said, looking at me smiling.
"Right. Thank you so much, Mom, I really appreciate all that you've done for me."
She smiled brightly, but tiredly. "You two are very much welcome." She sighed dramatically. "I don't even want to imagine what you'd do without me."
