Chapter 7
The floor I stood on was flooded in a yellow, mystical mist, and it looked like the room I was in didn't have walls for miles; If it was even a room. I was surrounded by light all around me, but it was dull enough to keep my eyes open and sharp. This place, wherever it was, gave a peaceful, natural vibe to whoever was in it. It felt as if there was no evil or negative aura in the air, it was completely Pure. I didn't know such a place existed.
As I was getting a grasp on the soothing limbo I stood upon, a shadowy figure started to emerge in front of me. I took a few steps back, but didn't feel that it was a threat. A spiral of spiritual iko enclosed the figure, making a cocoon. The cocoon busted, revealing a large woman, with something like antlers coming out of the crown of her head. She was in an ancient, shimmery, silk, dress that went down to her ankles. Her hair was braided into singles and some were pinned back to keep out of her face. The rest flowed down like vines from an old, wise, tree. I stood there stuttering as I tried miserably to acknowledge the person standing in front of me.
She smiled at my nervousness and confirmed it for me.
"Hello, Zeera. I am the Goddess Iya."
Chapter 7
Our gods, the ancient souls that created our species, the anumanu, work together to keep order in our universe. There are a total of six all together, each with their own purpose to the anumanu race except for the oriGinal two. There's Iya, the Goddess of the mother and protection; Akili, God of wisdom and war; Ili, Goddess of the order; Anga Goddess of the sky and vegetation, and the two oriGinal gods, Awali and Kujenga.
It's said that Awali and Kujenga are the first gods and birthed our universe and the other gods. I know that we should equally worship all the gods, but I personally favored Goddess Iya. I felt as if there was a sort of distant connection to her, but then again, so does everyone else who favors the goddess.
Although, this puts the word 'connected' on a whole new level.
"B-but how...?" My heart sank to the floor. "Am I dead?" I whispered, as if I was saying something forbidden.
She smiled softly and came towards me slowly. My first instinct was to back up more, not liking my personal space bubble being invaded, but wouldn't it be rude and uncanny to defy a Goddess?
"No, my child, you have not passed on yet. It is not your time, and it will not be for quite a while. But you have come to me, because it is time for the prophecy to begin."
"Prophecy, what prophecy?" I said, in utter confusion. I was part of a prophecy? Since when? Why was I not told of this before?
She smiled softly. "Worry not, your questions will be answered in due time."
Then, her hands shined bright and the peaceful limbo turned into an eerie, dark, and dangerously twisted forest. The trees were no more than thick, pointed, coiled sticks that were layered in thorns. The air was filled in a thin layer of demon-scented mist and the sky was a dark violet; signifying the existence of dark iko.
I've learned about this in school and in many classes in DSS; this was the Dark Woods, the entryway to the home of demons that lived on Asalin. They say that it is surrounded by a barrier made from the strongest tsaros in land. Although many demons can escape through the barrier, it permanently sucks out large amounts of iko when a demon passes through so they won't last long in our lands.
"Do you know what this place is, Zeera?" Goddess Iya asks.
"Yeah, it's the Dark Woods, right? I learned about it in school." I replied, looking around, feeling a bit uneasy.
