Chapter 19

After we got back to the base, everyone returned to their rooms for the night-or should I say morning-while Daren and I went to Dad immediately. Daren was carrying the woman's, still unconscious, body as we knocked urgently on his office door.

He opened it, looking a bit annoyed, but alerted once he saw the woman in Daren's arms. He opened the door wider for us, "Come in, hurry up. Set her down on the floor near my desk."

Daren did as he was told, and we both sat in the chairs in front of his desk, completely worn out.

"We have news for you Founder. It's about the prophecy." Daren breathed out.

Dad's eyes went wide, in both shock and fear. "You found evidence of the prophecy in Tariku's base?" Then his eyes went dark. "I knew it..."

Daren nodded regretfully. "It's an added part to Zeera's section of the prophecy, although it doesn't give anything away about her weaknesses." He added as he saw Dad tense.

He relaxed at the news, but not by much. "Hand over all of what you discovered and a report of the mission, then go ahead to bed both of you. I'm sure you're both exhausted."

We both nodded and said our goodbyes. We stalked back to our dorms, drained and weak, and dwelling over the information we've learned. My heart got even heavier with the dread of how similar that woman looked to Yanju, there is no doubt that they are related; they even share the cold, murky brown stare when they look at you. There was no doubt whatsoever.

Situations got even worse as I contemplated ways on breaking the news to Desta-

My eyes widened in realization, and I took off back to Dad's office, not listening Daren's calls. Dad was properly imprisoning the woman when I busted through the door, fully panicked and anxious.

"Dad! That woman is related to Yanju somehow! We have to warn Desta, or get her away from him somehow!" I panted.

Dad looked at me in sorrow and understanding. But how could he possibly understand? Desta was my only friend, the only person I have a bond with! If I lost her...

"I know, Zeera. The moment you left, I had already sent out people to retrieve her and capture Yanju, she'll be fine. Come here," he said, beckoning my over to him.

I rushed over to him and hugged him with all I had, tears forming as my heart slowed down.

"She'll be okay, Zeera, there's nothing to worry about. But listen," He pulled back so I could look at him; I couldn't meet his eyes. "you're gonna need to be there for her when she gets the news; you know how close she is with Yanju."

I nodded, knowingly. "I understand you, I will."

He gave me a sad smile. "Good girl. I love you Zeera; you know that, don't you?"

I nod my head. "Yeah, I love you too." I said, hugging him once more. He squeezed me, then wiped my tears with his shirt.

"Go get some rest, mitamu. I have to talk to you about something tomorrow, okay?"

Curiosity struck me, but I nodded and stepped back. "Okay, Dad."

When I faced the door, Daren was leaning on the wall outside, arms folded, head down, and eyes closed. I'm sure he heard everything, so I wasn't going to try and convince myself that he didn't.

When I walked outside the door Daren opened his eyes towards Dad.

"Before we go, sir, if there is an added portion to the prophecy about Zeera, is it possible that there could be more for me and the key?"
