I stopped in front of Dad's office and knocked on the door twice. I took a deep breath to slow my heart rate, and steady my breathing. I don't even know why I was nervous, but I just couldn't stop the thoughts flowing through my head on what he was going to say. Would he declare me an Adroit slayer right there at that moment? Was he just going to talk to me about living with Daren? Or was it something completely different?

"Come on in." I heard him call.

I cracked open the door and peeked inside to see if anyone else was there before fully stepping into the room.

"Hey Dad, what'd you want to see me about?" I asked, sitting in one of the chairs.

He was laying sluggishly in his office desk, leaning back in his chair with his feet up on the desk and his hands folded behind his head.

"Well, I wanted to explain to you about your new schedule on being an Adroit, and your new living arrangements in the Upperclass Dormitory."

He sat up in his chair and put his feet down and linked his hands on the desk. "Zeera, as founder of this program, I hereby promote you to Adroit, Third-Rate Slayer of the Demon Slayer's Academy. Congratulations."

Chapter 13

A beeping sound was heard from my watch, and when I looked at it, bright, bold letters flashed before me, You've Been Promoted! Then it powered down and fell off my wrist. Dad brought out a big box from under his desk and handed it to me after I picked my watch up off the floor.

"Here is your new training outfit and tracking watch, and a few papers to help you out in the upper dorms. Talk to Raziya about what type of adroit you'd like to be." I gasped in joy and took the box from him.

"Thank you so much, Dad! This is so cool!" I said, hugging the box and smiling brightly at him. I was so excited and giddy, I forgot I even had any doubts beforehand.

"You're welcome, mitamu. But that's not all, has Daren told you anything about where you'll be sleeping?"

I nodded my head. "Yes, he has. He said, since I was-we were mentor and rookie, we're going to be sharing a room, right?" The thought made me a bit nervous, I've never had a roommate before. There go my days of sleeping in nothing but underwear...

He nodded once and continued. "Good, that was pretty much the last of what I had to say about your promotion. Now, go ahead and get situated and familiar with your new room and dorm for a few hours; I'll come and get you when it's time for is to leave for Dawning vacation."

I gasped as the biggest grin I could ever muster spread across my lips. I had to bit my lips from squealing, but I did starting jumping up and down on my seat.

"Oh my gosh, I'm coming too?! I mean, I guess so, now that we're a family, but wow! Yay, I'm so excited! Wait, a second, what do I pack? Is it going to be cold? Or warm? Where will we be staying? How-"

"Slow down!" He laughed, "You just worry about getting used to your new surroundings, and we'll leave the vacation part a secret."

My jaw dropped as he laughed some more. I groaned in playful frustration and got up from my chair.

"Fine, I'll wait. See you soon, Dad. Thanks for everything!" I said, walking towards the door.

"You're welcome, mitamu. I love you." My heart spiked painfully, not used to ever hearing those words.

I smiled back at him. "Love you too, Dad."

Now I was walking towards Daren's room, but I didn't exactly know how to enter the room. Should I knock first? Or should I just walk in, since it's my room now too now? But shouldn't I still respect privacy, since it was his room first? At that moment, I didn't have to worry any longer, because as soon as I stepped foot in front of the door, it automatically opened for me.
