Age: seventeen (I know I changed their age, but I felt like it fit a bit better)
Set in Season 1
Jughead Jones is not one to be drawn to people immediately. Normally after meeting someone, he'd immediately shut them out, but that all changed that once fateful night at Pop's when a H/C beauty walked through the door of the diner.
"Seriously, Betty. We can't just let him get away with this!" Jughead sat along with Archie, listening to the girls as they plotted their revenge on the misogynistic pig that is Chuck Clayton.
"I know, it's just... I don't want to start a fight that we're bound to lose. He's the Coach's son and he's Weatherbee's favourite student." The blonde sighed and took a sip of her vanilla milkshake. The four had been in the diner for about an hour and although Jughead was listening, he didn't know how to put himself in the conversation. Usually he was the one on the outside, but now in this group — whatever it is, friendship, a partner shop — he finally had a voice and it kind of scared him. Shocking really, nothing scared the writer, not even Jason Blossom's body, but this situation was knew to him and he was still struggling to adjust.
"B, we have to do this! For all of the girls who have been shamed by him and his stupid jock friends." Veronica turns to Archie, who suddenly comes back to reality. The redhead was clearly distracted too and Jughead knew. Grundy was on his mind and although it made Jughead sick to the stomach, there wasn't much he could do about it. "No offence, Archie." The boy smiled, startled by the sudden interruption.
"None taken, Ronnie." The doorbell of the chocolate shop rang, which is kind of surprising, since it was now almost eleven pm. The diner was almost abandoned, the only people actually residing were the group of four. Jughead turns around to see what kind of person would be coming in so late. His breath caught in his throat, his eyes widening and his heart thumping loudly, ringing in his ears. At the counter, stood a girl who couldn't be any older than them. She was very poised, a charming smile on her face as she laughed at what Jughead would assume to be one of Pop's jokes. She tapped the counter of the diner, glancing around. The girl was clad in jeans and a F/C turtle-neck sweater, which matched with her F/C converse/vans. Jughead couldn't seem to take his eyes off the girl and his entire face flushed when she met his eyes. E/C, an astounding shade of E/C. Jughead didn't usually talk much, but even Archie stared at him in surprise when he became speechless.
"V?" The girl asks, an excited tone in her voice. A joyful squeal left the raven-haired girl's lips as she ran up to the teenager and tackled her in a hug. Jughead finally manages to catch his breath, but is unsure how to form words. Whoever this girl is, she seemed like a sweetheart, but to Jughead, she was dangerous.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming to Riverdale?! I would've prepared your room and met you at the airport." Their friend babbles to the mysterious girl and a wonderful laugh leaves the girl's lips, causing Jughead to have shivers run down his spine. He tries to shake it off, not one for cliches, but this girl had his attention and he wasn't sure how to stop.
"I wanted to surprise you! Mum actually got me transferred from St Agnes so I could live here with you." Veronica looks at her supposed friend, shocked. Using his deducing skills, Jughead could tell that the girls were close and Judging by the accent, she was from New York as well. She was casual yet well-dressed, meaning she had just got into Riverdale and probably came to the diner to pick up a late dinner.
"You're kidding?!" The H/C girl shakes her head and Veronica hugs her again, jumping up and down in her stilettos, which looked like a challenge in itself.
"V, are you going to introduce us to your friend?" Betty asks, smiling sweetly as she always does. The welcoming tone in her voice showed that she didn't feel threatened and whoever this girl was, she was excited to get to know. Veronica and the girl start laughing as if Betty has just said the funniest thing in the world. The blonde furrows her eyebrows. "What?" The two recover from the laughing attack, wiping their eyes. Jughead wanted to hear her laugh more, it was melodic, so soothing to the ears.
"Oh B, this isn't my friend. This is my twin, Y/N!"
