Jeany's POV

I woke up. Alone. I missed Zach!

My mom should be here to let me put of my room any minute now.

I tried to remember what happened last night. I remember yelling, crying, glass shattering.

Then it hit me. Last night I was watching Tv when my mom came in. Drunk.

She sat by me and started crying. It was terrifying. She was sobbing, gasping for air, cursing. She saying how everything was my dad's fault.

"Momma, what's wrong?" I asked trying to be understanding.

"It's all you fault you worthless price of trash!" She yelled at me. She threw a bottle at me and it missed.

She sprinted at me. My own mother had me pinned to the ground. "Why are you so useless!" She yelled at me while pinning my shoulders to the ground.

To much pressure! My shoulders popped and she let me up. I tried to run but she threw another bottle at me. It hit my back and I fell.

She walked over and kicked me then went to her room and screamed and cussed.

Then the police came. They picked me up and brought me outside to the ambulance people. I laid there as they talked to me.

Then my mom was brought out in handcuffs.

They asked me if there was anyone that I wanted to live with.

"My brother." I said.

"What's his name?" Asked one of the police.

"Zach, my mom had him on her phone if you want to call him."

"Okay, thank you Jeany."

He walked inside to get her phone. He came back talking on it.

Zach's POV

This day has been taking forever! Long day at the shop.

My phone buzzed, it was my mom.

"Hello," I said. A man answered.

"Hello, is this Zach?"

"Yes, who is this?"

"This is officer Piercy. Your mom started beating your sister, jeany. She said she wants you to be her leagal guardian now."

I stood there in shock.

"Hello? Zach?"

"Oh, um, sorry. Sure. I'll take her!"

"When can you pick her up?"

"Oh man. You see, mom sent me to England. So, that's where I am now."

"Oh, we can take her to you. Is that okay?"

"That's perfect! Thank you so much!"

"Uh huh. Should we take the money from your mom or what?"

"Yes, take it out of the bank. Buy some tickets here. Please get Jeany to me safety!"

"Sure thing. Bye and thank you Zach!"

Them I realized what I would have to do. I would have to ask everyone if Jeany could stay with us, send her to school, she'd have to stay home alone on the weekends. Oh man.

What was wrong with my mother? Beating her own four year old daughter! I hated her! And my sister probably did too.

I wish I was there! So that I could've stopped her! My baby sister was beaten!

Then my phone rang again. Again, it was mom.

"Hello."

"Oh, Zach. Um, Jeany's injuries were more severe than I thought. We have to take her to the hospital." The cop said.

I stood there frozen once again. "Um, what's wrong?"

"Broken collar bone, she needs stitches on her back where the glass shattered, and she might have a small concussion."

"What!" I screamed at the phone. "How could she do that to her own daughter?!"

"I don't know sir, she was quite drunk."

I hung up. How could she do this? I hated my mom with everything I had.
