I ran as fast as I could through the woods that made up my back yard. My breathing came in short pants, my chest rising up and down as I struggled to keep going. Footsteps, not mine, were pounding behind me, making fear rise within my veins. My head was pounding, my heart racing, and my feet moving as fast as they could.
But my speed wasn't fast enough. A scream left my already parted lips as an icy cold hand grabbed my upper arm. Before I could scream again, the other hand clamped over my mouth shut. Fear was all I felt, as a stared into his emerald green eyes, those same eyes that have been watching me for months. He smiled, showing pearly white teeth...
and two sharp fangs...
---FOUR HOURS EARLIER---
It was starting to get dark but we were still on the road. It was a few hours to get to Columbus, Ohio, but when we got there it was so pretty. The city was huge, the people hurting to get somewhere. The cafe we stopped to have lunch in was big but cute, with the smell of wonderful food and amazing coffee. It was great.
We walked to German Village, a park with lots of street performers, artifacts, and people wanting to draw or paint you. I sat in a stool for about an hour, getting my face and shoulders drawn by this really funny guy with a fake mustache that kept falling off. Afterwards he showed us, and it was pretty good for someone so silly.
After that, we ate-again-at this small burger joint that made these massive hamburgers, with so much cheese on them I almost died and went to heaven. We ended up staying there and chatting for a while, sipping our drinks and laughing at the random things we call life. It wasn't to long after that we decided to go home. Currently, were about half an hour away from my house and I was so tired I could have slept for days and still woke up tired.
A little while later I smile up at my house as we pulled in. I didn't really want to get out and go inside, so I stayed in the car and talked to Ash instead. "I had a lot of fun today."
"I bet," he chuckles. His small smile disappeared a few seconds later as his eyes darken slightly. "Anne...I need to tell you something, and it has to be before we do anything...extra."
"What, your not a virgin?" I smile, repeating another reference from Twilight. 'Man', I think to myself. 'I really need to stop watching supernatural movies.'
"No, it's not that." He says, not having a clue about how I'm having a mental breakdown about Emmet and Jasper. "I...I don't know how to say this without sounding crazy to you."
"What do you mean...?"
"Well...I'm not like you. Or your family, or anyone at school. I'm not...how do I put this...human."
"So what are you?" I smile, knowing he's just playing a joke.
"I'm a..a Vampire."

*My smile gets bigger as I try to hide my laughter, but after a few seconds of silence it bubbles out of me. I laughed for almost five minutes straight, but soon stopped the moment he leans over and starts rummaging through the glove compartment. My humor was replaced with curiosity, but soon turned to confusion when he pulled out a small pocket knife. He looked at me with hooded eyes, but even then I could still see the pain from something.
"Don't believe me, I see." Wasn't a question. "I can prove it to you, ya' know. I'll cut my hand, and in less than ten seconds it'll heal faster than your average human-or anything for that matter." He says. Then he slits his hand open. I gasp as I saw red run down his arm and drip onto his pants. I was about to ask him if he was insane, but just as I opened my mouth, I closed it in astonishment.
