{November 2018}
The kids had been growing up so fast. Adam, nearly 8, started second grade and Emma now 4, started preschool. The littlest Billie, was a year and almost a half.
Harrison and Carrie were both doing very well. They'd been contemplating having another child soon, or in another year or so. "Maybe we should wait," she'd said.
"We can handle it," he'd said.
"But we have plenty of time." Carrie was right of course. They were both 31 and there was no need to rush with another kid.
And they had decided to wait. Carrie watched with Billie on her lap and Adam and Emma at her sides as her husband jogged onto the field. It was a big game for the Cowboys, as they were playing their NFC rivals the Seattle Seahawks.
Harrison wasn't lying when he said it was very loud in Seattle. Sitting there for 5 minutes was enough to give her a headache. "Mom can we go sit up in the box?"
"Yeah Adam. I was about to ask the same thing."
The kids followed their mom to the second deck and into the box. "That's better huh?"
"It's a lot better mom."
Carrie would admit, it was a lot better to watch the game in a quiet location since Seattle was so loud. "Mommy when are they going to start?" Asked Emma.
She looked out the window. "Daddy's doing the coin toss right now. Soon sweetie."
"Okay mommy."
It was indeed a while before the actual game started. But when it did, the crowd cheered even louder, making Carrie very happy she'd taken the kids inside.
Harrison on behalf of the Cowboys, had elected to receive. After the kickoff, the Cowboys offense came on the field to obnoxious cheering. It was so loud she wondered if the other offensive players would have trouble hearing the quarterback Dak Prescott.
The team took a three and out. Not a great start. The first play with the Cowboys on defense, one of the cornerbacks got burned by the Seahawks receiver who ran the pass for a touchdown. Not a good start at all.
"Come on," Carrie muttered to herself as the offense came back out.
The entire first half the Cowboys only managed to get two first downs and give up 21 points. "Mom they're not doing good."
"I know buddy."
Harrison himself was having a decent game. He made a few key tackles and swatted down a couple passes. Carrie was waiting for him to have a breakout. She knew it was coming.
The Seahawks ran the ball, which is never a good idea with Harrison near the line of scrimmage. The running back broke through the line, right to Harrison. He tried to juke him out, but nobody jukes out Harrison.
Once the running back stopped stutter stepping and chose to go left, Harrison dove at him, catching his ankle and bringing him to the ground.
Carrie noticed he got up slow after the tackle, and he stretched out his right shoulder a few times before shaking it out. "What did you do?" She whispered to herself.
He didn't seem to be bothered by his shoulder the rest of the game in which the Cowboys mounted a comeback, scoring 24 unanswered points to win.
The crowd that was very loud at the beginning of the game, was so quiet now, a pin dropping could be heard. With the 24-21 win, they pulled off an upset victory and kept their perfect record at 9-0.
Meeting him after the game with the kids, she asked, "what did you do to your arm?"
"Nothing it's just tight," he answered, taking Billie from her. "I'm fine."
But as soon as Billie's weight was in his arms, he immediately shifted her to hold most of her weight with his left arm. "I don't think you're fine."
"I am Carrie. I promise."
Anyone notice anything about the photo at the top of this chapter?😏
